We stopped at Abel's on my birthday after some of the rudest service I've ever experienced at the Kilwin's in Venice. Thank God we did because the two employees working at Abel's on the afternoon of April 13th provided terrific customer service! I'm so sorry that I don't know their names, but they welcomed us warmly, let us try flavors, labelled the pints we got, and even wrote "Happy Birthday" on the birthday cake pint I got because we told them it was my birthday. If you can look back at who worked that day, please reward them for their kindness!

I am a huge fan of Godiva went the other day and had a waffle cone with icecream and I couldn't even finish it. Then I stumbled into Abel's. Let me tell you OMG it was simply wonderful. I had a sugar cone with carrot cake icecream and my husband had a waffle cone with toasted coconut almond. First lick and I felt almost like a child. The quality, simplicity and freshness made me remember the good old days. This place has nothing to envy on brand name places. In Abel the flavors and the quality go beyond a name.

The 2 girls Elizabeth and Angelina were the most sweetest people. As we sat here and ate our ice cream, they complimemted something on everyone with a genuine smile. They asked how you were doing and engaged in very friendly conversation while scooping your ice cream. You are very lucky to have found these girls to work for you. The ice cream was amazing, you can tell the difference between 31 flavors and this place. Homemade and veey awesome.

The service definitely needs improvement. I asked for three samples, and the female red-haired employee who was assisting me said, ā€œBe right back,ā€ but then got distracted doing other tasks like grabbing cups and completely ignored me for several minutes. It left me confused about the level of customer service at this ice cream shop ā€” I didnā€™t feel acknowledged or respected as a customer.

When a couple more people arrived and stood behind me, she finally returned with the samples and asked if I was ready to order. Before I could respond, the woman behind me said she was ready, and the employee went ahead and served her first, leaving me waiting even longer.

Iā€™m sorry, but this level of service is unacceptable. It might be time to reconsider staffing or provide...

What is a beach vacation without a nightly stop for local ice cream? One of our evenings in Siesta Key we stopped in at Abel's Ice Cream. The service was friendly and personal, and Abel, the owner, chatted with us while we enjoyed our ice cream. We were visiting the first week of December, and being the off season, it wasn't busy. The shop is bright and clean, the scoops are generous, the ice cream was creamy and there were lots of flavors to choose from. They make all of their own ice cream in house and even had a fruit sorbet that was safe for my son, who has many food allergies including dairy and soy. If we find ourselves back in Siesta Key (and I hope we do!), I would return to Abel's for another ice...
