Hello Colleen, I've read your response to me review below. I really did not want to get involved in a back and forth, but I feel I need to point out a couple of things.
Reviews are there for a reason. You as an owner, can either take note of what seems to be consistently wrong, or you can ignore them because you think the good comments out weigh the bad and there is no need. I stand by my comments of what was wrong, and I ask you to take note that I did mention others seemed to be happy, and complimented you on how often and quickly you respond, which is a good sign that you do care. Customers need to do their own research.
My mention of how the restaurant did not "intend to be portrayed", is a direct quote from you on another poor review where you seemed to be trying to defend your prices and quality of food.
I gave a final recommendation to stay away based on my experience and the fact that my experience was a match to quite a few others. My recommendation to you, because you do seem to care, is that you take heart the criticisms that seem to reoccur and do something about them. And please do not take my negative review as not wanting you to succeed. I understand the challenges of maintaining a successful restaurant and wish you nothing but the best. But the reality is, it is up to you to make it happen.
Thank you jeff
I saw the reviews of this restaurant and I wanted to take my wife to somewhere different after a beautiful day at the beach. We could not have been more disappointed.
I totally agree with every negative review I have read, and everyone should take note of them. They are too consistent to ignore. And while they do not "intend for it to be portrayed as a casual restaurant", they certainly have work to do to even get it above that level. Pricing has been explained as them using appealing and high cost flavor items. I did not see or experience that at all.
I am a burger fanatic and I am very honest about how I like them. I had a $25 Smash Burger on a small coffee cup sized plate, not very visually appealing. I have had much better and would not recommend this burger. Also it was served on the tiny plate with fries tucked in, which certainly didn't coincide with an owners response in the reviews that they are not portraying to be a casual restaurant. It certainly was not "visually appealing". and not very good. My wife had a $25 Korean Short Rib Melt that was full of fat that we had to leave on the plate, and it was also served on a very small plate with fries tucked around it. And I might as well mention the two $4 diet cokes. So in short, including gratuity, for two very small sandwiches with a few fries, we spent $73.48.
I have been in Naples since 1999. I know good restaurants with great food. This IS NOT one of them. I never write reviews because I want every business to succeed. I hope this one does as well. I should also add that it helps when the server looks happy. That did not happen. Lastly, if I am being honest, although I don't know if they were being honest, I did hear several people at other tables say they enjoyed their meal. Two many red flags at this one. Will not be back and I recommend you stay away.
The owner or manager is very good at responding to reviews. It is not necessary this...
Read moreThis review is after a single visit. We were greeted promptly and taken to our table promptly. Tables were right on top of one another. This led to a very loud environment and having conversations difficult.
It took a few minutes for our server to stop by. He was both personable and knowledgeable about the menus and answered our questions and talked about the tapas like nature of the restaurant.
It took a while to get our drinks and for the waiter to get back to take our order. The restaurant was very busy so perhaps the delays and waits for the waiter may have been helped by a few more people working the room.
The menu was quite innovative with pairing you'd never expect like bugles and caviar. Interesting but difficult to taste the caviar as it was overpowered by the bugles.
We had the octopus and a stack of onion rings with iberico and cheese. These were both very tasty though the onion rings clumped a bit from the cheese.
We had copa porchetta to for an entree, something we'd never had proudly. Our waiter had explained the dish which included a collar of fork fat. The waiter had explained the dish and the fat which he assured us was not excessive. I guess I'd disagree as it overwhelmed the pork itself, and want prices where difficult to chew through
Overall this visit was sub par from my perspective and I have difficulty understanding all the excitement about it. I feel like there are many better restaurants in the area.
But that being said, the tapas portions were excellent so I'll definitely go back for another visit before I right it off. I'm hoping it was just a bad...
Read moreMy only justification for a 3 star and not a 1.5 star is the stylish modern renovation. I struggle to understand what reviewers ate to warrant their 5 star reviews. Perhaps they have better coffee and beer? I've eaten twice at Fit & Fuel. The first time was a very dry, underwhelming BLT. For $10, I did expect to enjoy it. Reminded me of a high school cafeteria sandwich made with day old ingredients. Recently, I ordered the fish tacos. They were awful. Fish was too fishy (I get fish is fish, but the flavor illicited fears of impeding bad belly, I'd think they'd care about quality control and sample what they are serving that day). Flour tortillas in which they were served were not soft, seemed exposed to too much air. The few bits of pineapple was the only saving grace. The presentation was unimpressive, served in a stand up tray on top of white dish. No side accoutrement such as chips, fruit garnish ... felt as though something was left out. After all, presentation is part of the appeal. Rose tea was flavorless & watered down. Their website makes it sound like an elegant indulgence. Waste of money for $12. With so much competition in this town, I'd think they'd desire to go out on a limb to not serve average. They renovated their space. Mindfulness to food quality and preparation would have rounded them out to be a great eat-out or socialize-out in Naples option, but...
