Decided to try this place out since it's part of the Darden chains. I wasn't ready for this place. The host and the server were a bit pushy. They both talked about the place as if it would be the best ever, if not really good. That turned out to be far from the truth. If you're an absolutist about food make sure you read up about the concept of this restaurant. They're far from traditional cooking. Everything that we got seemed as if they were trying to "improve' on traditional dishes while failing disastrously. The old rule comes into play here. It its not broke, don't fix it. Cheddars motto: "If it aint broke, try to improve it....." please don't.
The place is CLEAN! Super clean. Love it
Butter Drizzled Croissant: Fresh but the drizzled butter makes for a sticky mess of mass proportions. Be ready for the bathroom to wash your hands....
Apps: Wisconsin Cheese Bites. Cool little mutilated breaded cheese stick thingies with mari..... no.... no marinara. They don't even have any kind of red sauce in house. it's served with Ranch dressing. Not impressed.
Wife's Main dish: SALMON CAESAR PASTA SALAD. What in the fuuu....... Lettuce over pasta.... Why? Plain pasta on the bottom, lettuce with Caesar dressing and salmon on top. Salmon was overcooked and tough... She had to take the salmon off the plate to toss the lettuce with the pasta so it had dressing on it.... Beyond confusing.
My main dish: Grilled Chicken Alfredo. I mean how could you mess this up right??? The description reads as such: Penne pasta, broccoli, homemade alfredo with garlic bread. I ordered mine without the miniature shrubbery... It came out with the sauce looking a bit "yellow"? I took a few bites and asked the server if this was Alfredo sauce to which they said "kind of". But the menu says...... Another thing that wasn't broken but yet they fixed... I swear it had melted cheddar cheese on it. Sauce was thick and pasty. Once again not impressed.
Hey would you like try our desserts??? HARD PASS. At this point we're not spending any more money.
At this point were done... We pay our bill and are asked if they'll see us again and I politely said "I don't think so" and there's a reason for this...... Reading about the company's history they state that they set out to do something different. To make food in a different light. So the question pops up: Was the food bad??? I'd have to say no.... It just wasn't what I wanted. I don't like to experiment with food Im paying for. If I want to experiment, I do it at home. Not while paying decent money. If you are an explorer and don't mind the potential of losing money to a subpar meal, then this is the place for you.
All in all we won't be back. Its just not our type of restaurant. For my fellow explorers out there. ...
Read moreThis was the worst restaurant experience in my entire life! It is impossible to fail anymore than this Kissimmee, Florida Cheddar's.
On our last night of our vacation on Saturday May 28th, we decided to try Cheddar's for the first time. I heard from a friend this restaurant chain was good, so we decided to try it. At 7:44pm we joined the wait-list with my phone number. At 8:43pm we entered the restaurant, sat down, and ordered shortly afterwards.
Our server brought the drinks (2 waters and 1 soda) and two small side salads right away. My friend and my wife ate the side salads. My friend drank his soda while we waited for our food. Over an hour went by. The server never returned during this period of time to do anything. My friends soda was long gone and he was wondering when he might be able to get a refill. After about 1 hour and 15 minutes, the server finally emerges. The server approached the table and asked if we were ready for our check... It was hard to hold back laughing at this question as we literally just wasted two hours between waiting to get in and waiting for our food.
I told the server we have been waiting for over an hour now and we don't even have our food yet. The server disappeared, and returned in about 5-10 minutes with 3/4 of the food we ordered, excluding my friends dish. I felt the food, it was not warm at all. The food looked like it was sitting around for a long time, most likely forgotten about in the kitchen. My wife's steak looked really bad. I told the server our food was not warm and I was not happy about waiting such a long time for this. The server said he would go get the manager.
My friend's dish arrived, completing the whole order. The manager showed up and apologized for the miserable experience. I explained to the manager that we waited over an hour for the food and the server didn't even know he never fulfilled our orders... Then asked if we were ready for the check. The manager claimed our food was "dropped". I think it would be very rare for 4 dishes to get dropped all at once, requiring a redo. I believe our food was completed and just sat back in the kitchen getting cold while it was forgotten about. The manager said we can remain eating at the restaurant for free. I told the manager I just wanted to leave because this was an abysmal failure. The manager claimed it's not usually like this. We left the restaurant shortly after the manager walked away. I left the food on the table to ensure it hopefully ended up in it's rightful place, the trashcan.
This restaurant experience could not get any worse. When we walked out, it was about 10:20pm. Our chance to eat a good meal on our last night of the vacation was ruined. I would never return to this restaurant and I would not recommend anyone patronize...
