an old stand by but still good food. Now about service and prices... the wait staff is great.. friendly and accommodating;
the daytime Manager Damien is not- if you want a relaxing and fairly priced dining experience I recommend calling to see if he is on at the time of your visit and dining at another time when the other Manager is on site.
With this location 10 minutes from my house I am there with some regularity. The last time I happened to go midweek around lunchtime and was shocked by the lack of customer service by the Manager mentioned above.
I ordered an item as it was written on the menu but ran into a snag when the menu said my pancakes came with a seasonal mixed berry topping and the waitress said that she had to charge me for the seasonal mixed berries. Turned out they ran out of berries and the only fruit they had was a banana so I said I guess I will have a banana. She said she had to charge me $2 extra for the banana. I know she was just following 'orders' from her Manager so I asked to speak with him.
He was outside but visited my table 10 minutes later and confirmed the $2 charge. I pointed out that the menu is written that seasonal berries are included in the price to which he answered where do you see the word fresh?
If one looks up the definition of seasonal it means that it relates to a particular season of the year, meaning that the choice of berries would change depending on the season.. inherent in that is the definition of fresh!!
I told him from a legal standpoint he is required to charge what is written on the menu, and if he wants to charge for fruit then he must change the menu. it is sandbagging at it's finest!
He walked away, my pancakes came with 6 nickel sized slices of banana, I brought the plate up to him to ask where he bought such a small banana. He asked me if I was expecting a whole banana and I said for $2 of course. He said no, you get a serving of a banana.
He then said, don't worry since you are not paying for your breakfast since I know you are going to complain but don't ever come back here again!!
Oddly, I wrote this to Corporate and got no response. A photo of my $2 banana is below.
The takeaway is be prepared to be charged an unknown amount for your meal regardless of what the menu says and also expect to dine in a tense atmosphere since the wait staff with this Manager around has to be 'on their game ' so to speak or he will fire them on the spot.. which he said he would have done when I told him I've ordered this in the past and was never charged for...
Read moreWent in for a late breakfast with my daughter and the greeter didn’t seem happy, welcoming or enthused. I had to say hi first for her to acknowledge me and let me know “the other girl will be back to seat you”. “The other girl comes back” we follow her and we are seated not with a smile not with any emotion whatsoever she actually looked annoyed. Our server comes over super nice and upbeat takes our order gets our beverages out super quick. 20 minutes later our food comes out (from another server) and she says “I’ll be right back with your pancakes” (isn’t that really what they’re about? Their pancakes?) aaaaannnnnddddd 10 minutes later she comes back out with the pancakes and tells me “I’m sorry it’s a crazy day” and walks away. No one came to check on us at all. We weren’t even finished eating and the check was put on the table. I put my card there and wait 15 min for them to come and take it... nothing. I got up and go to the front register where now you have two workers complaining about working and what’s going on there (which shouldn’t be done in front of the Public). Finally someone acknowledge me and I said “I’ve been waiting to pay” they said “let me get your server because they have a special code and we can’t ring you up upfront” when she saw my server she brought it to her attention and the server looked annoyed and said “I was going to get to it just leave it there”.... after that I was finally able to pay along with her saying “sorry about that I’m short handed today. I personally didn’t even want to leave a tip but I did. This had to be the worst service and waste of $34 I’ve ever spent. Where was management? Seemed like there was...
Read moreI have been a frequent customer at the IHOP on Glades Road in Boca Raton, visiting every other day, but my recent experience was absolutely unacceptable.
When I arrived, I stood in the waiting area for over 10 minutes, despite the fact that no one else was waiting to be seated. I remained calm and polite, asking a couple of employees for assistance, only to be met with rudeness and the same dismissive response—“Someone will be with you in a minute”—repeated five times. Finally, a kind young woman came to greet me and seat me, but before I could settle in, the rudest staff member returned and was unpleasant again. At that point, I wasn’t going to tolerate it, so I got up and went directly to the manager.
Unfortunately, the manager was even worse. When I first walked in, I overheard him yelling at his staff, which is already unprofessional. When I approached him about the situation, he was abrasive and aggressive toward me. I responded in kind, but this entire interaction should never have escalated in the first place. A manager should know how to handle customer concerns professionally, and they should certainly not be berating employees in front of customers.
This was, by far, the worst experience I’ve ever had at an IHOP. For a restaurant I visit so often, this level of service was truly disappointing. While I’m not calling for the manager’s firing, I strongly believe he needs proper training in customer service and staff management. No guest should have to deal with this kind of treatment.
IHOP corporate should take notice—this location needs serious...
