As a newbie to Liza’s, we realized quick that we needed to get a table before ordering. I sent my order with another member of our group and sat at a table a little big for us but was offering up the extra table to others. One waitress approached my table and asked me to move. I didn’t understand why she was saying that. She then said that at their restaurant, you didn’t sit before placing your order. I informed here that I was placing an order through another member of our group. She then said that a group of women that she pointed to had placed their order before me. At that point, several members of that group asked her not to push the situation. She responded, “Now, it’s the point.” I was embarrassed to be called out in such a small area with everyone looking on. I did get up to save the escalation. But what right did she have to ask a paying customer to move out of a seat? I was mad, and didn’t want to stay because of the embarrassment. I told her that maybe I should not spend my money there. She responded, “ That’s ok.” Now unless she is the owner of the shop, I would be concerned that she was fine turning away a paying customer. My group ultimately decided to order, and so did I. Only wished I hadn’t, my biscuit and gravy was not good. Only one member of our group really enjoyed the food. Also, when I ordered, I heard her tell someone in the back that she would tell them what was so funny. A person from the back came out to look at me. You can’t tell me that she wasn’t...
Read moreI wanted to love this place, and per the reviews I thought it would be better. I ordered the half order Eggs Benedict instead of a breakfast sandwich because the girl at the counter said, "Just to let you know, we're out of biscuits and gravy." But biscuits came out for other people before and after us. I guess they were just out of gravy? Anyway, the eggs benny would have been better if the egg was not overcooked. They are cooked in poacher pans which leave the whites bulky and rubbery- not light and tender like you get from properly poached eggs. Plus the egg and the sauce were barely even warm considering the egg was over-done. It's served on bread which gets rather soggy. The ham was great though. The potatoes were burnt, and I think they were reheated. I didn't eat much of them. The other 4 in our party said they liked their sandwiches-nothing special-but ok. And oddly, it's touted as a local place, but judging by the cars in the parking lot with out-of-town plates, it's mostly tourists thinking they're eating at a local’s spot. The music and the hippy vibe are cool, but honestly, who needs politics when you're...
Read moreHad a great Sunday brunch here during off season. It's a great location to pick something up and take across the street to the beach. Went at about 10am and there wasn't a large crowd and we were able to sit outside. The inside and outside decor could use some updating. The service was excellent and food arrived fast.
I had the sandwich special for the day and my husband had the hippie hash. Both were excellent. Truly one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The foccacia was baked fresh that morning so it was super soft. Lots of flavor. The sandwich had the perfect amount of meat vs bread and was hot and cheese was melted perfectly. Sometimes with foccacia I've learned that it's a thick bread and some places don't put much meat on it so it becomes a bread sandwich. Not Liza's kitchen. The hippie hash had a lot of flavor and spice. The potato salad served with the sandwich had maybe just a tad too much onion in it (I love onions) but that's the only bad thing I could say...
