Olaf's Siesta Village — Restaurant in Florida

I have been a loyal customer for many years. We are locals and we vacation every 4th of July week. We got ice cream Wednesday night and came back today. The service this afternoon was terrible. 2 teenagers working today and the store was empty but for my family and another family behind us. No greeting, seemed annoyed that I wanted to try a new flavor and were blasting rap music. My daughter has food allergies and I’ve always been so impressed and relieved that your staff is happily accommodating. I still can’t understand why you use the same scoop for ice cream and sorbet in the first place however you always have a fresh batch in the back that you scoop from for my daughter along with opening a fresh pack of gummy bears. Today the young girl immediately said no we don’t have a fresh one in the back. Matter of fact with no empathy towards my child. She said you had mango Italian ice and begrudgingly went to the back for a sample. Unfortunately my daughter did not like the mango and we left with her in tears. I am most upset at the lack of service and compassion today. You are allowing 2 teenagers to run your store. Neither showed any empathy or compassion. I’ve heard great things about Olafs and I decided to give it it a try and was extremely disappointed. I told one of the staff members that I was allergic to nuts multiple times. They made my ice cream and asked me again if I wanted nuts and I said “no thank you. “ They then proceeded to put nuts on top of my ice cream. At checkout, I tried to explain again that I was allergic to nuts again and could not eat that and instead of them being helpful, they told me that there weren’t a lot of nuts, and I should still eat it, even though I was allergic. “There’s hardly any nuts on that are you sure you’re allergic”. After a long day walking around Siesta Key, we were craving a refreshing ice cream. Initially, we stumbled into a different place, but my mom insisted on trying Olaf's place, and we're so glad we did. The ice cream was incredibly delicious, and the atmosphere was very friendly. What impressed me the most was their attention to detail when I requested almond-free ice cream for my son, who has allergies. They followed strict cleaning protocols, which was a pleasant surprise.

I was truly impressed and greatly satisfied with our experience. I fully recommend Olaf's place! It was one of the highlights of my time at Siesta Key enjoying ice cream outdoors while watching people go by brought back cherished...
