WARNING...OLD BAY CAFE TRINITY...WARNING...OLD BAY CAFE TRINITY !!!
Do not buy gift cards from him unless you're going to use them right away or within a few months. I paid him $150 cash for 3 gift cards. Due to covid and extreme hot temperatures we weren't able to use them before they expired. Let me mention that when I bought these, I was not informed they came with an expiration date. Eight people handled these cards and no one noticed an expiration time on them. I guess it was on the back of the card...who looks at the back of a gift card!
I stopped in the other day, as a courtesy, to let him know that on Saturday there would be 11 of us coming and that 3 couples were going to be using their gift cards I had given them and the rest would be paying cash. The girl told me there was an expiration date on the cards (which I did not realize) and that she was going to have to talk to him to see if he would honor them. I told her to explain to him that he got my $150.00 and that I would be buying more gift cards come Christmas time and we all would be returning now that we were going into cooler weather. I couldn't believe when she called later that evening and said he would not honor them!
I'm sure he went thru rough times with covid, but we did too. We are senior citizens on a limited income so money matters as much to us as it does to him. I hope he realizes that in not being fair in this situation he lost much more than the $150.00 as none of us will be returning and in turn lost 11...
Read moreBeing Marylander born and raised, finding a true crabcake in Florida is hard to find. I had heard good things about this place and on my way to Tampa I decided to go out of my way to try theirs. I noticed they had run out of whatever pre-made crabcake mix they were using and had to scramble to make more for my order. I don't know if that is the cause or the fact it looked like canned and pasteurized crabmeat, but it had absolutely no flavor at all. I even took chunks of the crabmeat and tasted just those and it was just tasteless. It had the awesome look of a maryland crabcake, just lacked any flavor whatsoever. Perhaps in their rush, they missed an ingredient or it didn't have the normal time to soak in, as crabcake mix should be refrigerated for about an hour prior to cooking for the binder to set, but for whatever reason, it simply had no taste at all. I did enjoy the snowball I got with it, missed those from back home. I did not enjoy the brain freeze that came with it though. Lol. As a former restaurant owner in Maryland, and knowing how to make crabcakes myself, I will chalk this one up to their running out of their crabcake mix and rushing a new mix for the sake of filling my order. Will eventually give them another try when in that area again. So keeping my hopes up that this was a one...
Read moreBeing that I have so many family members from the Maryland area. Essex, Perry Hall, Dundalk, Belair, Fredrick, Bowley's Qtr's. Wanted to try this for so long now. Well. Today was the day! What an absolute Phenominal little outdoor restaurant. And what down to earth people. Penny, your order taker and waitress. And Marty (owner) and chef. Whipped me up a fabulous Maryland style crabcake sandwich, and a softshell crab sandwich. That made me think that I was dining at one of those Chesapeake Bay restaurants on the eastern shore. The crabcake was all backfin clump crab, lightly batter dipped, and fried, with a little touch of the "Orginal" Old Bay seasoning. Ya gotta have Old Bay when you are talking Maryland style seafood. And the softshell crab was prepared pretty much the same way. Both came with sides. The crabcake was with "red russet" potato salad. And the softshell crab was with black beans & cheese. "PERFECT"! So in closing. If you have not been here to the (OBC) Old Bay Cafe'. What are you waiting for? This is a definite must have! They have a wide variety of menu choices. Even a Kids meal menu. Dine in or Take out. While you're there tell Marty & Penny, "CLUTCH" sent you! You will not be...
