Salty Rim — Restaurant in Florida

Very rarely leave poor reviews. However, this pool bar’s service is terrible. Food arrived 1.5 hours after we ordered it. Cold wings. Sent them back and asked to just have them removed as I wasn’t waiting any longer. Seemed unphased, as I guess this is normal operating procedure here. So in the end, a chicken sandwich not served as ordered (wife was too hungry to send it back), and two cans of Corona, with their 20% TIP, $42.00…

Tipping in the USA is absolutely out of control. This resort takes their 20% as a mandatory charge. TIP (To Insure Prompt Service) is supposed to be a discretionary add on by the customer. Here in the US, (yes, I’m an American) it has become a way for restaurants to get the customers to pay for their staff. It’s unacceptable, and I think Americans have about had it. What it has done to a place like this is guarantee an income to the Staff with no expectation that they will provide good service.

While a beautiful and comfortable place to spend the day- our experience was subpar. Through no fault of the waitress, as she was severely overworked and handling too many tables, the service left something to be desired. Our food was average at best, the drinks took forever to be delivered, and half the food (after being written down and ordered) was never placed. We went to the bar to order the food after realizing it was never coming and the service there was lacking as well. When they still got my food order wrong, i approached the bar to quickly fix it and the bartender wouldn’t even look at me. The "main" poolside bar and grill is where mainly hung out for Mother's day weekend. The food was great (pretty basic) and the drinks were ok (overpriced and little to no alcohol). On Sunday we went to the bar area to order drinks and food and the bartender told us we can't order at the bar unless we are going to sit to eat & drink at the bar, yet 4 people walked up to the bar asking for drinks and soda to grab & go, so that was frustrating as you should be consistent with all your customer not just the select.

Monday was a better day. We had Katherine as our pool server. She was great and checked on us regularly. We got the chicken nachos that were so good.
