A friend of mine and I went here for lunch several days ago and I was going to review then however I was far too upset and feared I might say something I'd regret. When we arrived in the late afternoon, there was hardly anyone there so we were seated immediately. The owner took our orders. On the menu it says they have Horchata water however when I ordered I was told they don't have it. He asked if I wanted some other type. (Was not on the menu) I declined. My friend and I ordered waters, I asked if they had bottled he claims they have "a filter" yet he tried to convince us to order "sweet tea or diet coke". No thx just water please. Ok fine. The food arrived fairly quickly and looked good although $15.00 seemed a bit high for 3 tacos with rice and beans. I also had ordered a to go for my husband. (He is Mexican incidentally). His order was brought with mine so of course was cold when I brought it home. The food- the meat was seasoned well however the tortillas were horrible. My husband said they tasted like chemicals. We both recognize them as a very cheap, store bought brand that is far from authentic Mexican. I ate 1 taco it was so bad. The beans were bland. Not even salt and also canned. The rice I can't necessarily complain about. I didn't like it, it didn't taste at all Mexican but perhaps from another state. The worst part- The worst part was when the bill arrived. The owner had left some poor inexperienced young man in charge. On my bill was the two orders I asked for. But also had a "sweet tea" and a "diet coke". Sound familiar? When I first got the bill I didn't pay attention and just handed the young man my credit card. It wasn't until he came back to give my receipt that I saw the added drinks. I asked him to please remove them as I didn't order either. He stood there looking helpless. He didn't know how. I asked him to see if he could cancel it then take the drinks off and run my card again without them. While he was trying to do whatever, I called my credit card company to explain. As I was speaking I received 3 alerts from MasterCard. I had been charged $108 and change! I tried to get help from the young man but he didn't know anything so I asked for the owner/supervisor. He said he left. I asked him to contact him. He went in the back and came back with his cell and handed me the phone. I re-explained what happened and very kindly asked if he would be willing to discount my order to compensate all of this chaos (I had to file a dispute) his reply was, coldly "what do you want me to give you everything for free!?" I said that's not what I asked. I realized quickly this was not a good business owner and said thank you and hung up. ANY decent restaurant owner or manager would have comped my entire order and likely my friends as well! Not this guy. Oh and the salsa for the chips? Jar salsa. So flavor other than tomato. Bottom line, if you want authentic Mexican food go to El Cerrito or grab the best tacos around at Don Taco. And lastly don't expect any kindness or help from this...

I have had this place saved on my "To try" list for awhile. When planning a dinner out with my family, I had chosen another place, but after finding out they did not have Margheritas, and my daughter and boyfriend did not like the looks of the other place, we decided to go here. Man was I glad they didn't want to go to the other place! LOL This place was wonderful!

The decor was great. I loved the decorations and the light fixtures. Very clean. We were greeted right away. Our server was very friendly. Our drinks and chips and salsa came out quickly. My daughter got the strawberry Margherita which was excellent!

The menu was huge, so I was having trouble deciding what I wanted. So many options looked really good. So I did what I often do and asked the waiter for recommendations. Unfortunately he couldn't think of one thing to tell me that was really good or popular. He basically just said it depends on what you like. Seeing as I pretty much like anything that is deliciously prepared, this was no help. So, I decided on the La Favoritas, which was a chicken burrito and a chicken enchilda. My daughter got the Enchiladas Poblano, and my boyfriend got the San Miguel which was a shrimp burrito.

The food came out quickly. It looked amazing. When I took my first bite, my eyes got real wide and I looked at my boyfriend in amazement. The food was absolutely delicious! The sauce was so flavorful and fresh. The best chicken burrito and Enchilada I have ever had in a restaurant! Everyone was happy with the meals they chose.

We ordered fried ice cream for dessert. It was delicious, but I question whether it was actually fried or not. It was so rock hard that it was difficult getting a bite on the spoon. Overall a wonderful dining experience. We will definitely be returning to try more delicious meals from...

OK OK so Im from Arizona and lived in Mexico City for a few years and my wife being from Texas you guessed it ..we are Mex Food Snobs. Up until now El Cerrito has been our go to place until we found San Miguel. The place is clean and there were servers all over the place so there was no problem getting chips and salsa. I wasn't a huge fan of the salsa as I like mine thick and chunky so I had them bring me a hotter version which was way thicker and hotter. Food was spot on and while some of the sauces and dishes are authentic much of it is Texican style which is what most gringos want and expect. We instantly fell in love. Side note : I love a real margarita not a mix but unfortunately they use mix so I had the bartender make me a "real " Marg and it was delish (I don't mind paying more for the real deal) My wife doesn't mind the mix and loved hers, and we both tried the Texas Marg with Don Julio and had a few of them. We met the owners and they were super nice and all the staff were super helpful and right there when you needed them and so I am giving our new GO TO place a 10 out of 10 in fact I am already planning next Friday nights dinner...
