Shoney's Old Town — Restaurant in Florida

I came in with my daughters Robyn was my server. She was awesome very polite and helpful and understanding how I felt about quality of food on buffet. The chicken on the buffet was burnt then after 15-20 min they brought fresh chicken that was just over crispy. The okra was tasteless and the stuffed crab just tasted like a box of stuffing and no crab. The soup was definitely way over temp the fish or whatever was in there tasted like it should no longer be served. The only thing I ate on the buffet was 1 slither of the fish and some really thick mash potatoes and gravy. I ordered 2 kids meals that said came with sides. Which they attempted to charge me for. I had to send check back multiple times and was offered 10% off for the horrible buffet. I had to grab the Manager after my server tried to get it fixed. Marina instead of apologizing for the mistake in a sarcastic rude tone said hmm you had two kids meals. The manager Marina was just rude and she could have just charged me for some mash and and a fish. Taking $3.00 off of a 14.99 buffet is a joke. Then when I called later to ask for a store number Kurt refused to give me one. Told me to just say it is the one in Old Town and that they are a Franchise so corporate does not run our store and that there are only two stores in Florida. Then proceeded to hang up on me before I could ask what Marina name was so I had to call back again and get her name. I have been here multiple times but I will never waste another...

I was here on vacation so I drove half an hour to this Shoney’s because I was craving one of their strawberry sundaes. I called ahead to make sure they were still selling them before I drove so far for nothing and the person who answered was Lisa. I asked “do you guys still sell strawberry sundaes?” To which she rudely responded with “we’ve always sold strawberry sundaes”. So I get to the location and I ask for a strawberry sundae to go. I get to my car and find out it’s a milkshake so I go back inside and say I asked for a sundae. The hostess who rung me up was super nice and she asks Lisa if she didn’t make a sundae. Lisa says “sundaes and shakes are the same thing” no they are not… and I told her that. She rudely responds with “ok then what do you want me to make you?” All I wanted was a sundae which is obviously ice cream with the strawberry topping, whipped cream, and cherry. I was very upset that I was met with such an attitude and that I had to explain to an employee what a sundae was when she should already know this. They finally make me a sundae and I could tell they were annoyed because it was all so sloppy and spilling out of the cup. The rating I gave had so much more to do with the employee than the actual restaurant, but it was just the worst experience I’ve had at...

Only bummer is no kids menu and the buffet price is the same for small kids as it is for adults. Waitress asked the manager if we could order off the menu for the one small child and he declined saying they are short staffed. So paying adult buffet price for a couple of small pancakes sucks, but our child did find a muffin and a donut, and eggs too. Also, drinks are extra too, that's fine. Our waitress was such a sweet, thoughtful, amazing person. We didn't ask her to ask about the menu for kids or anything, she went above and beyond on her own! Kept our drinks full and table cleared! Food was good. I wish that they had at least 1 turkey or beef option for the sausages or bacon...its all pork...but they did have little chicken tenders, so I made a chicken egg and shredded cheese biscuit! I love that they had a salad bar and fresh fruit!! I was excited to see a buffet too! They have disposable gloves to use for your hand getting the food at the buffet too. Overall a great deal and experience and we would definitely return and recommend this place! Location is great too if you want to walk around, go shopping and ride some rides. See the car show on a Saturday night. It's located...
