Thai Rice Restaurant — Restaurant in Florida

My wife and I went to this new restaurant on 27 Feb, 2021. We love Asian cuisine and really wanted to like this place. We were sadly disappointed. Star 1: Cleanliness and Atmosphere. The restaurant is brand new. As a result, it is very clean. Atmosphere is inviting with a nice decor. Some of the tables are repurposed from another restaurant. One star for atmosphere. Star 2: Service. The servers were nice. The kitchen has not figured out their timing. I got my entre, then our appetizer arrived, and my wife's dish arrived 5 minutes later. I can't give them a star for service because my food was cold by the time my wife could eat. Star 3: Quality of Food: The quality of the food was pretty average. Nothing really stood out as high-quality ingredients. It was frustrating when there were plain, white mushrooms in the soup instead of shiitakes. One star for quality. Star 4: Value for Price: Thai Rice is overpriced. Compared with other Thai restaurants in the area, they are $2 overpriced across the board. I have no problem paying a higher price for truly great food, but the price here does not match the amount, taste or quality of the food. Star 5: Overall Taste. The taste of the soup appetizer was good. The pad thai was surprisingly sweet, even though I asked for a medium amount of spice. My wife's curry was good, but soupy. We both had Thai teas, which are served in carafes. These were the highlight of our meal. One star for taste. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. We love trying new restaurants, but this did not live up to the hype. The main problem is the price. If they were able to lower their prices, they would be more competitive with the other Asian restaurants...

I love Thai food. I love everything about it. My bestie Christine and I were in the mood for good Thai food and are we glad all roads led us here. For starters, the customer service is top notch, they truly want you to have a good experience. I ordered the cucumber salad. Who would have thought that something so simple could be so delicious and refreshing. There was a hint of sweetness that was delicious, not too sweet but really good. With the addition of red onions it was a great appetizer. I ordered the Thai basil chicken stir fry and added shrimp to it. The shrimp were plump and juicy, with rice it was a complete meal. I ordered my dish Thai hot but it was not spicy at all. When I mentioned it they brought out the seasoning for me to add and it really took the spice to the next level. Delicious. My friend had the stir fry chicken with shrimp and cashews, it was delicious. She didn't add extra spice because she's not a crazy chili head like me. I had hot green tea to round out my meal, what an awesome day. Let's talk about the service. The server patiently explained everything to us and never rushed us to order. Not only did our server check on us throughout our meal but so did the management. I have never felt so pampered but also not rushed in any way. It was such a wonderful experience, I would eat there every day if I could. Please, let's patronize businesses like Thai Rice, because they not only offer a quality service but they truly care about the consumer. I will...

Mom and I went to Thai Rice Restaurant for lunch on the recommendation of a good friend, and we are so glad we did! This hidden gem is located in University Town Plaza on Davis Highway—you won’t see it from the street, but trust me, it’s worth driving into the plaza to find.

This family-owned restaurant has such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The owners truly make you feel at home, with Mom and Dad cooking in the kitchen while their son and daughter-in-law take care of guests. They are incredibly friendly, and their hospitality makes the experience even better.

We had the pleasure of meeting Chef Nuoy (apologies if I misspelled her name!), and she took the time to chat with my mom in Thai. My mom is very particular about Thai food—being Thai herself—but she was truly impressed by the flavors and authenticity.

We ordered: ✅ Papaya Salad (Lao style) – fresh, bold, and flavorful ✅ Beef Jerky & Sticky Rice – perfectly seasoned and delicious ✅ Boat Noodle Soup (2 orders) – rich broth, tender meat, and just the right spice level
