"Dad, Turn Right" Most days, I am scared to make plans beyond 9pm. Hashimotos and OsteoArthritis aren't late night "friends." After meeting my best friend for dinner, she and her family left for the nightime Ghost Tour. We walked our son halfway to his destination and in saying our goodbyes- he turned to my husband and said, "It's early, you guys are young-Come on Dad- take Mom and Turn Right"... And so we did-stopping in the old, familiar, smokey bar, Tradewinds, a place my best friend had warned her daughter about at dinner; yet a place that will always make me smile. Upon entering- I quickly returned to my 21 yr.old self. I thought of Bob Breslin, A Flagler Grad, local musician and my best guy friend who tragically died 10 yrs. after college graduation. Back in the 90's, Tradewinds was THE PLACE where musicians were "made happy" with plenty of willing girls.Bob had outgrown that part of weekend gigs at Tradewinds and had a proposition of his own for me. In exchange for keeping the "riff raff away" I would receive a bar tab and Bob would sing my favorite songs! So in the name of "friendship", I would morph into "Bob's Girlfriend." Proudly, seated at a front table while he played his gig." The smell of smoke hit me and we were met with reality and an old famililiar face-the "Steven Segal Lookalike" who took our $2 cover and whom I begged to "card us!"(We are 46 and 51) Upon entering, we happened upon a Bachelorette Party. They were friendly and even asked me for advice on "making it work." I blurted out " Marry your best friend and have your best girl friends by your side always...oh- and NEVER SAY THE "D" WORD! Suddenly, I was reminded of my own Bachelorette Party night, which started our almost 23 years Journey. This morning as the windchimes sang through my backyard, I thought of Tradewinds- I danced my a!# off and for an hour , Chuck was patient and watched as the "Tradewinds Shenanigans"unfolded- with his wife in the thick of it. Yep, he smiled. He now has his own story to tell his son, that began with "Dad, turn right..."

Super fun, great staff - make sure you don't miss the popcorn buffet. Spent the better part of our two nights in town enjoying the live music of Mark Hart (super fun guy, excellent playlist - enthusiastic spokesperson for the popcorn buffet) and chair dancing (and even out of your chair dancing) multi-genre music from Salty Daug. The two man Jackhammer band played rock tunes from up and down the ages. Bartenders and waitstaff Matt, Sara, Angie P, Eric, Holly and Julie were super attentive and treated these visiting sailors like we were long time friends.

BLOWS MY MIND!!!! I go to St Aug about 3 times a year...get hotel room, spend lots of money, "sample" margaritas. Take a friend who needs the escape. I normally have a great time at Tradewinds. They have great margaritas, the price is right and usually have live music. I have racked my brain trying to figure out why they were so rude to me this time...????? Only thing I can figure is the waitress was crushing on the fellow sitting in front of me and I was cutting up with him. I had two Margs..bought two at bar ($7.00) and two from waitress. The waitress was taking a while so I went to bar to get another and bartender informed me that waitress was on way back to me..okay. Went back to table. She arrived, I paid for drinks with a $10.00. She left. Ten mins later or so she had not returned with my change so I went to her and asked her for change so she gave me $2.00 back (not very politely I might add). I POLITELY advised her that the bar had only charged me $7.00 (btw..tipped bartender $3), and she informed me that they must have made mistake...and returned my other dollar. BS!!! There was another issue as well....I have recently injured my butt bone, so it is quite painful to sit down, so I was sorta squatting on my chair. The waitress barked at me to sit down "propperly". I proceeded to turn chair around, where back is in fron of me, again, to relieve the pressure from my butt bone. She returned to inform me to sit down in chair correctly (which I did immediately), at which time I did inform her (very POLITELY) that the reason that I was sitting like I was was because of a butt bone injury, she snarled, spun around and left. I am normally a VERY good tipper, have lots of fun, never bother anyone, always try to go out of my way to make sure people around me are enjoying themselves. I am a comedian at heart, I cut up, and usually get along with everybody....I still cant figure why this lady was so angry and rude to me...really just blows my...

The rudest experience i have ever had!! Went Saturday with my husband, father in law and grandmother in law paid 8 bucks to get in. The place was PACKED. There was only one straight shot to the bar which happened to be right in front of the service station. There was nowhere else to go. NO ROOM ANYWHERE. The waitress pushed me out of the way pushed my father in law out of her way and pushed my husband. My husband which speaks his mind but could have said worse told her that that was rude. The waitress immediately overreacted literally got close enough to his face to knock his hat off yelled that it was the service station and at the top of her lungs told him one more word and your out. My husband confused said what..? Seconds later the bouncer was on him telling him he needed to leave. We had just been served our beers and were informed we could not leave with them. Chug them or leave them. On my way out it was so over capacity that i had to stand in between this older couple to let people by. I was so close to them there was 0 space between our bodies.I was very uncomfortable. We were there for about 5 minutes before we got kicked out for no reason besides the waitress obviously couldn't handle the stress of the big crowd. I've worked for customer service all my life and there was no justifying her bad attitude and poor handling of the situation. Needless to say we spent 25 bucks in 5 minutes and couldn't enjoy it. I can take my downfalls but this one was...
