I don't know if it lives up to the hype this chain generates online, but it's definitely worth you trying at least once. I had a solid bacon cheddar butterburger as my first real meal here; it started off kind of 'meh' but the more I ate on it, the better it got. Crispy bacon with good meaty flavor, cheddar with actual cheese taste, and a nice char on the edges of the meat. Instead of fries (which are crinkle cut and pretty decent) I got a small order of cheese curds that were the highlight of the meal. They're noticeably better than the ones you get at other local restaurants, and have a good umami quality to them. The breading is even, and rather fine, so they have a pleasant mouth feel/texture to them.
I've had the opportunity to sample a few other things, since it's a slightly diverse menu. The pork tenderloin sandwich might be the sleeper hit of the sandwich/burger side of the menu — it's very tender and is pounded thin so it hangs off the bun. I'd definitely get one for myself, with just mayo, mustard and some pickles. (Note: All burgers and sandwiches come plain and you add what you want by request at the counter. If you take something off, they credit you the difference. Nice!)
There's a pot roast sandwich, which is kind of an unusual thing to offer year-round. The pot roast is pretty tender, but a tad on the stringy side. It has a good gravy, at least, but probably works better as a dinner than on a bun.
Off the dinner menu, I can give a big thumbs up to the Atlantic Cod plate. They seem to use quality cuts that are nice and thick, and are fried with a batter that isn't soggy or heavy.
They have their own house branded root beer (caffeine free) and it's really nice, coming down on the "creamy and smooth" side of things, which is my personal preference.
Finally, what about the custard? We've had a few custard places pop up (and go) over the years, but Culver's is the best if for no other reason than they have a drive through so no more traipsing in to a place to stand in line for a cool treat. Not only am I calling Culver's the best custard around here, but I'm calling custard in general superior to both froyo and ice cream. Don't @ me!
Overall, a pleasant experience. The staff was super friendly and accommodating to our needs, and the interior is comfortable. There's free Wi-Fi, and now you can even order from a table instead of standing in line at...
Read moreMade reservations for Valentine’s evening on 2/1/21 at 9:54 am. Requested a table for 6 close to the band for 5 pm. She assigned us a large booth. Called back on 2/3 to add 2 more guests. Not a problem she told me because we have the “party booth”. Good! Arrived on 2/14 at 4:50. No reservation for me?? No party booth for our party of 8. Embarrassing & unsettling! The manager questioned whether I, in fact, actually made these reservations & didn’t respond after I showed him my phone calls to prove it. The manager tossed us in a back room. Came back 15 min later & moved us to a small booth up front with a couple of extra chairs as we looked across the room at our party booth, which was given to friends of the entertainment duo. All ok because we were all seated! Waitress came for our drink order. Received our drinks. Took our dinner order ($120 per couple) Brought our salads, brought our entrees & disappeared because our booth was not in her assigned area, so she was busy with her customers in “her section”! Flagged down the manager for another drink order which he took. Waited & waited & finally our waitress appeared to retake our drink order. Received our drinks & she disappeared again. Flagged her down 30 min later to take our dessert order & she left half of our empty dinner plates on our table which we cleared ourselves! We spent well over $600 at our table not counting taxes! Had we had service we would easily have doubled our drink order! Our 20% normal tip dwindled to 10%. Thank goodness the food was good so kudos to the kitchen!! Desserts were great so the evening was not a total bust! Not sure any of us...
Read moreMy family and I went to this restaurant Friday July 24, 2020. We went through the drive through, got our food, and was headed down the road when we realized they left two of our food items out. We called and told them about our food being left out and the manager Rachael (on the 6:00 shift) was very rude over the phone, basically accused us of lying about our items not being in the bag, and told us to come back and get the items. Once we arrived back at the restaurant my father went in to get the items and the manager Rachael was very rude, treated us like criminals, and refused to apologize for the inconvenience. She also told my father to leave and never come back. After we left for the SECOND time, my grandma called and asked to speak to the manager so she could tell about our experience and she was very rude and said she was not going to be treated and talked to like trash. The way that my family was spoken to was very rude and unprofessional. If there was a way I would not even give them one star. Every time we come they always leave something out of our order and whenever we ask for marinara sauce for our cheese curds they always leave it out. There is nothing but young high schoolers working there who don’t know how to do anything and once while we were there we encountered a kid who was too young to even be working. I highly DO NOT recommend this place. I do not think we will be back as everyone is rude and they are way...
