Mo’ Bettahs in Forney, TX: Where the Aloha Spirit Comes to Die—Slowly, Over Three Painful Visits
Let’s talk about Mo’ Bettahs in Forney. Once upon a time, this place was a favorite of mine. I used to rave about it. Hawaiian-style food with flavor and good vibes? Yes, please. But now? It's a slow-motion trainwreck that took me three separate visits to finally accept the truth: this place just doesn’t care anymore.
Strike One was when I ordered my food and got home, only to discover the teriyaki chicken was so dry and burnt, I started wondering if they’d cooked it with a blowtorch. It was like chewing on a sandal. No flavor, no tenderness—just sadness and regret. But hey, I thought, “Everyone has a bad day.” I gave them the benefit of the doubt and decided to try again.
Strike Two came when I picked up my order and drove thirty minutes home—only to find out it wasn’t even my food. Someone else’s mystery meal staring me in the face while my stomach screamed betrayal. No sauce, no explanation, just a “surprise” dinner that I never asked for. At this point, I should’ve been done. But like a toxic relationship, I gave them one more chance.
Strike Three—the final straw—was today. I walked in, ready to order, and was greeted with...nothing. Not a smile. Not a “hello.” Not a “how’s your day?” Just a dead-eyed, unbothered “how can I help you?” from a short Hispanic girl behind the counter who looked like she hated her life—and hated me for interrupting it. So I greeted her first. Her response? A smirk and straight back to “how can I help you,” like I was wasting her time. That attitude? Rude, unprofessional, and downright distasteful.
If someone is that miserable working in customer service, maybe it's time for new management—or a new job. But let’s be real, management probably doesn’t care either, because this kind of “whatever” energy feels baked into the place now.
After three separate disappointments—bad food, wrong order, and now the rudeness of someone who clearly didn’t want to be there—I’m officially done. Mo’ Bettahs is no longer worth my time, my drive, or my money.
What used to be one of my go-to spots has become just another name on the long list of “restaurants that fell off.”
Honestly, it’s time to change the name from **Mo’ Bettahs to Mo’ of the Same—because the inconsistency, poor service, and apathetic staff? I can get that anywhere.
Do better, Mo’ Bettahs....
Read moreI have been twice since this location opened and had nothing but a great experience from the staff, delicious food, and overall success with them! Every time the staff has not only been courteous in greeting me when it's my turn but very pleasant and upbeat in their demeanor working with myself and other customers. The interior is very clean and bright, and has plenty of seating for everyone. Then there is the food... you can't help but with the breeze in the right direction smelling that grilled deliciousness outside as you walk from the parking lot into the place. With your mouth already watering you walk up the counter with glass to see the beautiful freshly prepared foods as they fill your order. As someone who has enjoyed Hawaiian BBQ style flavors for many decades, I can say without a doubt the flavors at Mo Bettah's in Forney are spot on! Their teriyaki chicken is probably some of my favorite, but don't skip on the pulled pork! The macaroni salad may surprise some with the carrot in it, but I can tell you that is more authentic than what you will get anywhere else! Finally, that spam musubi is something I crave all the time, but must limit myself! I highly recommend them and be patient as they are still new and working the kinks out, but overall you will see this is an excellent addition to our...
Read moreThis place is similar to Hawaiian Bros but the food here is better. When I walked in, the place is neat and clean. I ordered a regular plate where you get 2 meats, 2 scoops of white or brown rice and macaroni salad. I chose Teri Steak which was $1.50 extra and Pulehu chicken. I chose the white rice and spicy Yeobo sauce. The Teri steak was really good. Very juicy and flavorful. Really worth the extra $1.50. The Pulehu chicken is good. It’s a salt and pepper grilled chicken. I did dip this in the spicy yeobo sauce which made the chicken more salty. I like the macaroni salad, much better than Hawaiian Bros Mac salad. Overall the food was pretty good. I did give it a 4 star for the food just because the chicken was a little too salty for me. The service was great. I was greeted when I walked up to the serving line and he walked me through on the ordering process.
Would I recommend this to family and friends? YES!
Would I come here to eat again? You...
