Just like to start with, normally I am critical when it comes to down home motherland of cajun cooking, I tend to hold a higher standard when it comes to flavor, spice usage and variety of authentic ingredients that calibrate with traditional cajun cooking. So here we go....
The atmosphere - love the modern touch with the color of mardi gras, mixed with graffiti art and a uniformed color when give you that welcome but be ready to order cus the food is good quality. I don't know where or who made that motorcycle but heaven only knows it was to be placed here to show the beauty that awaits. The line of frozen machines in the background gives you some intimidating look but the servers come to back you up and delight you for sampling those creations, be warned of the follow brain freeze!!
The Drinks- be ready folks, if you ever partied in Nola in February, the drinks here are the best value for a good long night of sipping fun, my recommendation, let them call out what your getting...you will not be disappointed.
The food- brothers and sister, take a seat in the back because the menu is going to take awhile to finally decided on which option your stomach will be treated too. The pricing is little higher than most locally cajun joints nearby, but the quality far exceeds it. Infact I give it the diamond hand touch of food tasting. They ain't messing around back their. Some may think they got a voodoo doctor back there making deals in flavor. I order across the menu to get a broad view of what they got, now folks brace yourselves cause I didn't and was blown away by all senses. The boudian stuffed ball was my starter on my palate and it had a savory taste with a tiny kick, great to salivate the mouth and keep off the hunger demons, I would recommend maybe two for a small lunch to go.
Now, I was disappointed that they didn't have a kids menu up, given they are in a heavy family community, but that doesn't stop me from finding something small on their menu, so if you looking for a kids size appropriate meal, go with the shrimp or fish basket with fries, price stays fair and portions stay average for the kid. When it comes to taste, let's just say it was quiet for once.
My wife and I order from their seafood menu, the boil area, I got two pounds of shrimp cooked in the in house spice boil and my wife got the combo shrimp boil with corn, potato's and sausage. Now they offer crab legs but if you show up late, they are gone like the wind. The spice had heat and was full of flavor throughout, it reminded me alot of the east side dock markets in the French quarter of Nola, and frankly I only know a few friends who can do that blend right, well I guess I am adding this to my list now!
Now I am a sexy fat budda so to round off my meal I ordered me some wings since they got a good part of their menu dedicated to it, I went with chilli sweet pepper and hot honey wing flavor. Nothing shut me up fast enough than tasting those flavored packed wings roll across my tongue, it make you forget about your troubles and possibly having kids. Be ready though, they got a kick at the end that sneaks up, but with love. The crab cakes we got was a good blend of meat to breading, the taste is great and doesn't feel like your being robbed of a good portion as they are bigger than most eatery crab cakes. Crab cakes alone can be a great meal for one on the go.
Dessert was the cherry topper. It was their fresh made chocolate cake, moist and fluffy, like it was fresh out and cooled from the oven. I had to fight my wife for just a few bites.. I really wanted to try those delicious looking pralines but last one can only consume so much good food I could come out .
Summary - from the welcoming nature to the savory food that reminds you of pre covid partying to the down right good drinks. This would be the place to call forney and kaufman counties new little Nola hot spot for that bourbon street taste. Keep doin you Mr Cajun, especially in a place full of burgers, pizza and fried chicken, you bring flavor to this town...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOrdered a seafood boil and a wing dinner today, on Motherās Day, and the food was horrible. My sonās fries were cold and not cooked thoroughly. I asked for a butter, and the guy said heās low on butter. Smh, how do you have seafood boils at a restaurant and no butter? Then, I asked for Cajun seasoning instead. He said heād go to the back and put some on and did not put anything on! It took almost 40 minutes to get our food and it was mediocre. Then their Instagram page also lied about having live music for Motherās Day. I will never go back. The seafood boil flavor wasnāt great at all. I can literally make that much better at home. We took our food and I doctored my shrimp with a better flavor and used butter at home, and cooked my sonās fries. It was a $50 waste of money. Never again!
First of all, NEWSFLASH, since you ādealt with meā you would remember that I told you the order was for āhere.ā You proceeded to say you give everyone a bag in case they take some to-go. Soooo we began to eat in there waiting for live music that also wasnāt delivered. I tried 2 shrimp, my son ate his wings, and that was when we tasted the nasty fries that were not cooked thoroughly. So yeah, they were hot, but not done. You also failed to mention anything regarding the live music in your response to my review . I didnāt ask for Cajun seasoning on my other order, I asked for it on those nasty shrimp and you lied and said you put some on. No one is patronizing, just keeping it real. The food is below average for the price and the low star reviews are proving it. The responses to the reviews are unprofessional. Focus on getting your butter together and recipes better, and also maybe taking an English course before you come on here and ārespond.ā You sound ghetto, uneducated, and offended. Do better. I paid $52 and wasted my gas to go there. I didnāt like the food or service and didnāt hear anything about the āpolicy,ā so I am absolutely entitled to write a review of my experience whether it was favorable or not, and in this case, it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to the Lake June location yesterday to try for the first time. I ordered the turkey neck boil and my husband ordered the catfish and fries we also ordered a half gallon. Like an hour or so after ordering they sent a message saying my order was ready I asked them about it they said it was on the way (Not ready yet) as Iām waiting another woman comes in looking for her order which was ālostā they had to remake her whole order after sheās waited also for hours. As all of this is going on my husbands order which is now and has been sitting on the counter opened and uncovered with flies flying on and around it. A second text came in saying our food was ready 10 mins later. At the time we wasnāt sure it was my husbands order. That order sat there like that for a good 15 mins while my turkey necks cooked. All this while the half gallon just sitting there the same amount of time as the catfish. I donāt understand why the catfish were even cooked before the turkey necks anyways depending on the amount of time each take to cook. So by time my turkey necks were ready Mr. Cajun picked up that cold fish that was sitting there with flies on it and attempted to put it in a bag. When my husband explained to the workers why he didnāt want the food the owner Mr. Cajun chuckled at the incident. So we asked for a full refund. Because what was funny? I would not recommend them to anyone. Itās a sad day when a owner of a business laughs at a serious health complaint. Besides that the atmosphere was nice and the girls who work there were so sweet and helpful. That is the ONLY thing I can say was good about...
