Austin's American Grill — Restaurant in Fort Collins

I feel so torn writing this review, because I usually love Austin's, but lthis week I had a terrible experience because of our terrible server.

You know those nights when you're out with friends, and you're excited to share a good meal and catch up? I was out to a going away dinner and I was so excited to enjoy some prime rib and a nice atmosphere. Our server was just a nightmare from the start. She was rude and pushy. At one point, I asked for an Americano, and before I could even get the request out of my mouth, she said "NO", interrupting me, continuing with "We don't even have those. Nothing fancy like that". She didn't offer anything else.

Also, I ordered a prime rib, medium rare, and so did someone else in my party. Both were WAY more cooked than that, probably medium well at best. She never even asked how the food was or I would have sent it back. It was still ok, but not what I wanted.

Later in the meal she was again RUDE and it felt like our very presence was bothering her. Interesting attitude considering we were spending hundreds of dollars on food and drinks.

Disappointing, this place used to be a good standby, but it looks like they have fallen into the same trap as every other cruddy FoCo restaurant and hired people...

If I could give no stars I would. We tried to pop in for a table without a reservation. The girl at the front told us they could definitely get us in, it just may be an hour most. A couple of other nearby restaurants were also around an hour wait, so we chose Austin’s given the good reviews. We confirmed with her that they could in fact get us in, gave our name, and they assured us it would be “around an hour or less”. We waited an hour and a half, and decided to check on the status. After waiting a few minutes in a line to get to the host stand, the man told us “to be honest I probably can’t seat you tonight at all”…..what? After we waited all that time he completely denies our service??? We had at least 2 or 3 other places we could have gone if we knew it was impossible to be seated…when we complained the “manager” told us because we didn’t have a reservation we shouldn’t have expected to be seated. So unprofessional! He then threw his servers under the bus saying it was their fault that they promised us something they couldn’t deliver? And to add to this, the party of 4 before us without a reservation complained just as we did, and were seated immediately. Terrible customer service and rude manager. Would never ever...

To start I'd just like to say I'm not the person to write reviews after being in the service industry in Fort Collins for over 20 years. There's the good and bad in every dining experience but this time it was unacceptable. Tried to take my girlfriend out for a nice dinner after she spent all day in med school and thought Austin's would be a good change of scenery, big mistake. The server was not only pretentious but a robot in how he spoke to us like we were lesser individuals. After one drink each we tried to order another round when the manager approached us and said the server thought she was to intoxicated to have another. If you can't read the client to know what intoxication looks like then maybe it's the server who should be questioned on how to read the client. In the long run we told the manager thank you for the drinks and would like to pay the tab so we could find somewhere else that would appreciate our service. The crown pub was our next choice and not only was the food great but the staff was impeccable and most gracious. It's just disappointing when you try to have a nice night with your significant after a long hard day and are made to feel like you're...
