I’ve always liked Ben & Jerry’s for their fun flavors, creative mix-ins, and consistently good quality ice cream. On this visit, the ice cream itself was exactly what I expected—creamy, flavorful, and satisfying. Unfortunately, the service experience completely overshadowed that.
I was visiting with my cousin, who has a severe peanut allergy. Before ordering, we politely explained the situation and asked if the scoops could be cleaned or a fresh one could be used for her order to avoid any peanut cross-contact. This is a standard precaution we’ve seen at many other ice cream shops, and most places are more than willing to accommodate. However, the staff here refused, saying, “We don’t do that.” There was no attempt to offer a solution or show understanding of the seriousness of the request.
A peanut allergy isn’t just a preference—it’s a potentially life-threatening condition. It’s disheartening when a business can’t take a few extra seconds to make sure their customers are safe. While I understand that cross-contamination risk exists in any shared scoop shop, a simple rinse of the scoop or use of a clean one would have been an easy, thoughtful step.
The ice cream was still good, but the lack of care for food safety and allergy accommodation was disappointing. It left us feeling unwelcome and unsafe, and unfortunately, that outweighs the enjoyment of the product. Until this location is willing to take basic steps for customers with allergies, we won’t be returning, no matter how good the ice...
Read moreStopped by the Ben & Jerry’s in downtown Fort Collins and walked out with what might be the best ice cream cone I’ve ever had. I went with the Strawberry Cheesecake — one scoop in a cone — and it was perfection. Creamy, rich, just the right amount of sweetness, and packed with flavor. It’s like they somehow managed to capture summer in a scoop.
The shop itself has great energy — colorful, welcoming, and full of personality. You can tell the team behind the counter actually cares. Even with a line, they were moving efficiently and still friendly with every customer.
It’s easy to write off chain spots sometimes, but this one stands out. The staff, the vibe, the quality — it all hit the mark. Highly recommend making this part of any Fort Collins visit. I’ll definitely be back...
Read moreOur night began in a state of pure euphoria. We had just listened to the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. We had driven across town to be delighted by the Ice Cream of the gods. (Ben "and" Jerry's). But upon entering, the mood was shattered by the piercing looks of the employees. We didn't know their names, so we're going to refer to them as Emily, and other Emily. I wish there was a way to give negative stars, specifically for ambiance. Because there was none. I have never been in a more negative room, including the day I was "born"? If I were to have a surprise birthday party, where (double surprise) the party is for Satan, the room could not have been more negative.
I wish I had gone to 7/11.
P.S., Ice cream was great, but my roommate was given the wrong flavor.
