We had high hopes for our visit, especially after calling ahead to confirm our ETA and being told everything would be fine. Unfortunately, the experience from the moment we arrived was disappointing. We were initially told the upstairs area was closed, despite prior communication. When we asked to speak with a manager, no one came. After some time, we were finally allowed to sit upstairs.
Once upstairs, the sous chef greeted us warmly, and our server Megan was truly wonderful—she did her best to maintain a positive atmosphere and provide great service despite the circumstances.
However, several issues made the experience overall unpleasant. I ordered a shot of Milagro with lime, which I was told would be $11, but I was charged $16. The drink itself was underwhelming—maybe I chose the wrong tequila, so I’ll own that part, but it definitely wasn’t worth the price. When I asked the bartender (who was on his phone) if lime juice had been used, he simply held up a jar of limes and went right back to his phone, without much else said. He also began putting up chairs around us while we were still dining, which felt rushed and unprofessional.
To make matters worse, there was a hair in my food—and the item was not removed from the bill. After I told the server, all the sides that came with the dish were taken but nothing else. It felt like a bare-minimum effort to address the situation.
I did eventually speak with a manager, who was apologetic but did not offer any compensation or gestures to make the experience right. It felt like an afterthought, and unfortunately, the overall energy of the restaurant was cold and uninviting.
I brought a friend visiting from London, and the experience was honestly embarrassing. The food options were decent, and Megan tried her best to make us feel welcome, but it was clear our presence wasn’t truly valued.
We paid and didn’t complain to the server because essentially, the operations of the company has nothing to do with her. I hope she finds a place that values all patrons to take...
Read moreI rarely leave negative reviews, but the customer service at this restaurant was incredibly disappointing. From the moment we walked in, it was smiles from downstairs to the host who greeted us at the top of the stairs. It was when we sat down that I noticed the tables were dirty, so I requested the waitress to wipe it down. She claimed she did, but despite its appearance, it wasn't clean - I could see crumbs and upon rubbing my finger over the table, it confirmed my expectation of dirtiness. The waitress also departed for approximately 15 minutes, and another waitress approached us to inquire if we had been attended to. I informed her that our original waitress had left. My friend requested that the new waitress wipe down the table, and she echoed the same phrase. My friend then asked for a cleaning solution and a new menu, as the original menu had food residue on it. The waitress provided a new menu and walked away, returning with a dirty rag that she placed on the counter for my friend to use for cleaning. At this point, it was time for me to depart immediately. I had never felt such disgusted in my life. A simple wipe of the countertop would have sufficed. I will never return to this establishment. The waitstaff clearly require training. The host with tattoos was courteous and consistently smiling, unlike the two bartenders. Unfortunately, I did not note the names of the waitresses, one of whom was tall with a ponytail and the other short. Our visit occurred around 5 pm. I went over to Nube and had the best food, drinks and customer service. I come in your establishment and have to wipe my own table off.. I put a picture of where I went. It was definitely ✌🏾 out...
Read moreMy experience at La playa Day club was everything but amazing, the only thing that i can say was good was Diego the manager on Sunday who accommodated us the best way he could. Upon arrival I had booked a 15 person reservation for my moms birthday, they placed us in the smallest section that could barley accommodate 10 people. Diego was nice enough to move us to bigger section with space for about 13 people still didn't fit 15 comfortably but we made it work!!! The reservation was supposed to come with "security" roped of section and bottle. The minimum to spend was 500 which was no problem bottles here are ridiculous and they didn't have 3 of the bottles we asked for and several of the cocktail "spritz" on the menu were unavailable. Now to talk about customer service our first waitress was clearly hung over, never got her name was very dry and dismissive to any of our request. Our second waitress(after requesting a change) Paige was over worked and her attitude and face showed it the whole time. She was working numerous tables and honestly everything she Brought to our table was watered down or cold!! None of the food came out hot everything took forever to come out, I just wish that they never took such a large party that I booked over a week ago when they told us they were understaffed and unprepared for such a large party on Sunday June 26th. Now to the grand total of $931 again not a issue but with the service, the drinks, and the food being all terrible I was disappointed, I had high hopes for laplaya for making this a special birthday experience for my mom we made the best out of it cause of who WE are but maybe this is not an environment that can accommodate...
