Such a wonderful beach. It is bordered with the classic Florida Palm tree and a white low white and grey brick wall. The ocean breeze this time of year is perfect and it takes the edge off the heat. Even better during the hotter, more humid Florida summers. The missing star can be accounted for the rampant tourists and, honestly, many locals (possibly due to the fact they sell beer and wine in almost every corner store or CVS in downtown Las Olas Beach's main strip) desire to suck down a cold one. Hey, it's freakin' hot! No drinking on the beach though, tisk tisk. When I need exercise I walk coast and pick up cans and trash from sand and side walk so the kids and other folk don't have to have anything cut them or ruin their day at such a lovely beach! While I am chiseling my abs with endless ups and downs, I notice how beautiful the sea shells are and sometimes I pick up a few to hand over to a little kid that is not even old enough to know what a sea shell is. Certain in my step and righteous in my path, I pass it on AND I get the googley-eye. Wonderful! Smiles from the parents and...still the googley-eye from that beloved child. I love this beach. Sand castles are able to be made and are everywhere! If you know what the heck you are doing young Sand Master Kirk, you can make the Mona Lisa of the sea; where are you Rusty?! -- Anyway, there isn't a boardwalk but there are shops for t-shirts and sandals/flip-flops, drinks (hard or regular) and food all while you hear music playing from a few ritzyesque bottom floor restaurants with outside seating and dance floors across the street from the beach. Yes, they also have a section of restaurants that are second and third levels a little further down like Hooters and Lulus Bait Shack for starters. Hotels are scattered in between the side streets, clearly visible from, well, anywhere. With times shared here with me and my friends, I am sure you can make moments that you will never forget here at Las Olas Beach. It can get pretty busy where the hotels and restaurants are but once you pass those on either side (more North than South) you can have some peace if you are with a family of smaller children that just want to be away from partying and can have a great time making great memories. I know I have some stories and I want you to know it is safe here for you to come make some...
