We at Posh Foody Lifestyles recently met a cool dude by the name of Jared who manages one of the purest Italian restaurants as of yet!
Louie Bossi's in Ft. Lauderdale, FL is so authentic and close to Italian cooking that you will wonder what the other Italian American places are doing.
Posh Foody Lifestyles went to Louie Bossi's on a Saturday evening and it was fully booked. We were met by Desiree who made us feel like royalty. Alex, who happen to be managing that night, introduced himself and assured us that we were about to embark on a wonderful evening of authentic Italian cuisine.
Our waiter, Sean Crooks, was nothing but articulate and knowledgeable, not to mention charming. Now let's talk about the food.
It was if we were transported directly to the old country. Everything on the menu is made from scratch in the restaurant. Yes, EVERYTHING!!!
We were first presented with fresh bread, EVOO and some sort of magical spices for dipping. Then we started to get a little serious with a meat and cheese board. Oh, but not just any board, a board that must have been flown in from Italy as we were being seated.
First up was the Salumi, (the craft of preserving & salting cured meats), so much finer than salami. Finocchiona, Piccante, Tartufo, Soppressata, Mortadella, "Nduja, Coppa. All made in house with the exception of the Mortadella. Anthony's favorite was the Soppressata and Tartufo.
Then the Prosciuttos, ( an Italian dry-cured ham that is usually thinly sliced and served uncooked). We were served Speck (smoked), Di Parma (dry aged), and Leoncini (cooked & brined). Anthony's favorite was the Di Parma which many others agreed.
Now for the cheeses. Ok, try to follow -
La Tur - (Ripened from the outside in, this young Italian cheese is creamy near the rind with a fluffy, mousse-like interior)
Taleggio - (its flavor is comparatively mild with an unusual fruity tang)
Robiola - (an Italian soft-ripened cheese of the Stracchino family)
Parmigiano Reggiano Vecchio - (“The king of cheese!” PDO designation states that for a cheese to be called as Parmesan, it has to be produced from cows grazing on fresh grass and hay)
Fontina Valle D'aosta - (This is the real Fontina, made from the raw milk of cows grazing in 6,500 foot high Alpine pastures)
Gorgonzola Dolce - ( a soft, blue, buttery cheese made with pasteurized cow's milk)
Pecorino - (a hard, salty Italian cheese, often used for grating, made with sheep's milk)
Mozzarella Tasting
Fior Di Latte - (translates to “flower of milk” and refers to cow's milk mozzarella)
Burrata - (The outer shell is solid mozzarella, while the inside contains stracciatella and cream)
Mozzarella Di Bufala - ( made from the milk of Italian Mediterranean buffalo)
If you think that was impressive, hold on to your seat!
While salivating at the entrees, it was a difficult choice. So we allowed our waiter Sean to choose. We wanted to put them to the test and ordered both a pasta and steak dish.
We received the Rigatoni Bolognese substituting the Rigatoni for Bucatini, (a thick spaghetti-like pasta with a hole running through the center), which was beyond fresh and full of flavor.
Anthony was given the Saturday night special. This was the 7oz filetto con tortellini. The filetto was cooked to perfection. Med rare with a hint of pink in the center. The knife needed no effort to slice through. It was accompanied by 3 large tortellini which had a butternut squash filling.
Needless to say that Sean blew us away knowing exactly what we wanted just by asking a few questions.
Now, the moment you all have been waiting for..... DESSERT!!!
We were pleasantly surprised with a dessert platter which had an arraignment of homemade cookies, cannoli, gelato, sorbet, and the best of the best, Zeppoles (an italian doughnut).
The night was filling and we were satisfied fully!
Thank you for trusting us to give you only the very best when wanting to know where to go!

Read moreTruly one of the best Italian restaurants in Florida, large and inviting with a Old world Italian atmosphere and truly delicious food. I can say with enthusiasm “everything was delicious from crusty delicious specialty pizzas to the best classic Italian meals with everything fresh and presented to perfection. The service in this restaurant is everything you’d expect from a great restaurant, every waiter has been the ultimate professional. The pasta in my linguine and clam dish was the best I’ve had outside of Italy, in a sauce that was just perfect, with a generous amount of clams surrounding the delicious linguine. I should mention that the bread served at the table, was so crusty and tasty and perfect complemented by a dish of rich olive oil. The wine menu is extensive, although I chose to test the house red wine that was full bodied and smooth. There’s a large bar for cocktails with seating for 50+ people, it’s comfortable and conducive to conversation. There is an outside patio on the back of the restaurant with seating up to 150 people that is truly charming. If they don’t have a table available for you when you enter, they will take your cell phone number and text you when your table is ready. Which allows you to wait outside on charming Las Olas Blvd. There are some park benches in front of the art galleries next-door,that are comfortable to wait at. By the way you have to wait, it is well worth the wait, for great food and a great atmosphere that’s hard to come by. If my review seems effusive to you, don’t infer that I have any connection to the restaurant other than being a happy patron. BTW: if you park in the metered area on the street or in the parking lot, it’s always best to use PayByPhone app on your cell phone so that you can be notified if you’re running out of time ,you don’t have to go back to your car or be concerned about getting a ticket. They notify you by email and text if you’re running out of time and you can add money from your table or wherever you are. I am a top “Google Guide”, with over 33million+views of my photos on Google maps and Google sites and thousands of views an likes of my hundreds of reviews on this site. I have added dozens of photos here in this site, of the restaurant and it’s food,so you can get a preview of what to expect. If my review has been helpful to you please give it a like, so I know my review helped you in...
Read moreAbsolutely loved my lunch at this restaurant! Several people from Fort Lauderdale, ranging from Uber drivers to my good friends, kept recommending this place, and I finally decided to visit. Everything they said turned out to be true. The restaurant is designed very nicely, with a modern and impeccably clean look. I really liked its vibe! The restaurant has a big outdoor area and a very large indoor area with many tables and two bar sections. By the way, this restaurant was packed on Sunday afternoon! I couldn't get a table right away and would have had to wait 40-50 minutes, so I found a spot at the bar. The bar dining area is very comfortable. The chairs were tall and comfy, and the bar table had plenty of space for food. For my first visit, I decided to try my absolute favorite Italian meal – Rigatoni Bolognese, and it was truly delicious! It was definitely one of the best Bolognese pastas I have ever tried. For dessert, I also ordered my favorite Italian treat – Tiramisu. The Tiramisu was very tasty too. I need to point out that the portions of both my orders were very large, and I was quite full. Trust me, one main meal like pasta and one dessert would be more than enough to satisfy your hunger and make you happy. No appetizer needed. Seeing the portion sizes of other diners, I decided that ordering only two items – an appetizer and a main meal, or a main meal and a dessert – would be plenty. If you order a third item, you might leave a lot of food behind. As a person who doesn't drink alcohol, I ordered an iced tea. They have only one unsweetened black tea option, but I asked for simple syrup and was very satisfied with the final taste of my tea. By the way, they offer free refills on iced tea, which is a big plus. In general, the restaurant’s menu has a very large selection of Italian food. Next time I visit, I definitely want to try a pizza because the pizzas on other people's plates looked and smelled amazing. The prices for food on the menu seemed reasonable. My total bill for lunch was $39.54, and I found this amount reasonable for the food quality and overall experience. I am now a big fan of this place and will definitely visit again next time I’m in Fort Lauderdale. I fully recommend this restaurant. My big advice: make a reservation to ensure you get a seat, especially if you’re visiting during the busiest times...
