I visited Vinos a las Olas yesterday (Sunday) with my cousin to celebrate his birthday. We arrived right at opening (1:00 p.m.) and had a lovely start to the afternoon. We ordered tapas and a bottle of wine, and our server, Valerie, was absolutely wonderfulâattentive, helpful, and gave us great recommendations. She really made the beginning of our visit special.
Unfortunately, later in the afternoon (around 3:30â4:00), things took a very different turn. While my cousin and I were taking a picture, the tableâwhich was a bit wobblyâtilted, and our last glass of wine accidentally spilled. Accidents happen, and in other places Iâve visited, servers have simply replaced the glass and moved on with a smile. Instead, the server who took over after Valerie was extremely rude. Rather than assisting us, she scolded us and told us we had to leave immediately because some wine spilled on the seats.
To make matters worse, I was wearing a dress that was stained by the spill. Valerie (still on the premises at that moment) kindly brought soda water to help me clean it, which I truly appreciated. But the other serverâs approach was completely unacceptableâit was harsh, unprofessional, and ruined what had been a very enjoyable afternoon.
Iâve been to this restaurant a couple of times before and always enjoyed it, but this experience left me very upset and disappointed. Itâs unfortunate that one personâs behavior could overshadow such a great place. If youâre lucky enough to have Valerie as your server, youâll likely have a wonderful time. But if not, bewareâthe customer service I experienced from the other server was shockingly poor.
I truly hope management takes note, because this kind of service does not reflect the welcoming, high-quality experience that Vinos a las Olas should represent. Sadly, I donât know if Iâll...
Read moreWe went last night to celebrate my wifes birthdayâŠservice was very good. We were in a private area that has a bar, but no barteder.. I believe that if you have 20 people expending money in that room you should have a bartender there even if it is the only bartender at the restaurant. Out of 20 people two were drunk, the main reason being, that we order cheese boards almost all of them in the menuâŠ.but they should be called bread boardsâŠwe ordered around 3 or 4 bottles of wine, 5 to 6 drinks. Some people and at least 2 to 3 those who have less to drink. If are not well fed you will get drunkâŠwe had to relay on the flatbread that were not that good to be honestâŠPUT jam, salame and cheese of different types in your boards, like you would do at home. I rather pay $30 for a good board, than with good amount of cheese, jams, salame and others than 16 to 24 i believe was the most expensive for a board of bread..very nice sliced and presented, but breadâŠ.if people feel well and strong the party goes onâŠwe asked for around 10 cheese boards and good 6 or 7 flatbreads not because they were good, but because they were so poor that we were starving âŠif you work on that you will have a crazy amount of people there everyday because of the servers, the place is super cool. We stayed in the little bar in the back until around 2am or moreâŠeven starving ..by the way the bartender back there...
Read moreNot for everyone. If you don't look like you live around Las Olas, I would suggest you head somewhere else. My first time as I am from out of town, and I was offered the wine by glass menu only within seconds, with minimal interaction. Seconds after I made my choice the menu was whisked away. Ahmm, this is a wine bar, right? You don't do that. I asked for it back. Also, I had to overhear that food was also available. That was when I got up to look for a menu at another table, and I found a proper wine list instead. There are better wines available, but you have to buy the bottle...never knew because nobody told me. I was asked if I liked the wine, and I was kind by saying it was "okay". If you know wine you would probably not drink that one. I chose it because nothing else looked palatable. Then most of the time I sat there wondering that there must be more available. If I said it sucked they maybe would have kicked me out..lol.
Now I'm not looking for anything more than proper friendly service. I paid my tab and left, because I obviously was not welcomed. On the the other hand, the two ladies that came in after me got normal service. They were offered choices, and food, yet I got the cold shoulder. Maybe it's a South Florida thing. I left mumbling that my shadow will never again be cast on...
