This place is racist! If you’re not blonde, white, and blue-eyed, don't dare to visit this place.
Walking by Las Olas Blvd. with my in-laws and our 4 year old. We were looking for a place to grab a bite when luckily we spotted an empty table by the curb.
My wife asked, "Is this table available to sit and dine?"
The waiter told her, “Yes, come in and sit down.”
All of a sudden while sitting down, out of the blue here comes this waitress and says to us:
"Stop! Stand up and wait 20 minutes inside while I rearrange the set."
"Why?" I asked.
She said, “I have a couple who want to sit here. So, if you don’t mind…”
I said, “You gotta be kidding me!”
She replied, “No, would you wait 20 minutes inside please while I fix everything and then come back and sit.”
I replied, “You mean here, right? By the curb, I meant.”
She went, “No, there!”
Where? I said.
"There," she repeated while pointing at the inside of the patio, away from the curb.
"What," I said. “No, why? We spotted this table and asked if we could sit. The waiter said, Yes. What in the heck is going on here?" I asked, already upset!
Then, she came across with the same narrative again. That's when it hit me! I finally realized what was going on so, I said to her,
—“This is discrimination!”—
She immediately came down and told me not to yell and whispered,
“Oh! No problem, you can sit here.”
In the end, we decided to leave before our food was going to be "spat-on."
However, the reason why she didn’t want us sitting there is because we were not as "cute" as the white American two men couple.
Because we are a Latin family with Julio’s and Guadalupe’s faces and not white, blonde, blue-eyed. Sad! And of course, we are locals, not tourists, or spring breakers. Racist!
We still live in a segregated society.
The irony of the story is that the waitress is a Latina.
Shame on you!...
Read moreI generally give people the benefit of the doubt but I am certain their hostess is simply a racist and bigot.
We were seated by the hostess, a blonde middle aged woman with an accent (not Italian). Amongst ourselves we were discussing the menu in our native language when she kindly asked where we were from.. mind you up until this point she was quite friendly. Our native language is Hebrew, but we are local. We are certainly not ashamed of our culture quite the opposite, so we kindly answered her as we actually get asked this a lot, not thinking too much of it. We then asked her where she was from, noting her interesting accent. She replied after having turned her smile into a less inviting facade, “from here” and walked away.
The table across from us coincidentally happened to be speaking hebrew as well. Of all tables seated outside (and all were fully occupied) the hostess throughout the entirety of our time there did not acknowledge these two tables, but made sure to ask other tables if they needed anything, if their food was to their liking.
In addition to this, we were seated next to a very friendly elderly couple who we struck conversation with, they are frequent patrons of this restaurant and are known to the hostess. They were conversing with her throughout their meal and she opened up to them that she was Serbian, clearly information she didn’t want to share with the table less than a foot away from them. This couple happened to be Jewish American. She overheard this in our conversation with them and at that point also stopped catering to this sweet couple.
We just came to enjoy a meal.. and we did more or less. The food was abysmal at best, but the reason we will not be returning is not the food, but the uncalled for hate.
Be the change you want to see in the world....
Read moreAbsolutely terrible. I came here From out of town with my cousin and her God daughter for Memorial Day weekend. I ordered the house roasted breast of Turkey panini and the penne pasta with vodka sauce, tomatoes, prosciutto etc and added salmon. He asked me how I wanted it cooked. I said well done. The waiter was not very attentive only coming to the table once other than when the food came. When my food came out, the salmon on the pasta was completely raw on the inside. I cut it up with my fork to see if it was just one piece of the fish or all through and it was all through. I told the waiter and he took it back. While he was gone my panini came and there was noticeable lint all over the sandwich paired with a long blonde hair. A waitress saw me examining my food and asked me what was wrong. I just picked up the plate and pointed, when I started to even say what was wrong she said “oh I see, and visibly rolled her eyes as if I was annoying her with my hairy food. After they brought my pasta back with the the same 10 pieces I cut it up into just recooked and plopped back on my pasta, I was concerned that they just took the hair and lint off and just reheated the sandwich. So we left. No compensation at all. I would...
