From Bruschetta Bliss to Lasagna Miss: My Flavor Rollercoaster at North Italia!
So on Sunday, my boyfriend and a friend decided to grab some lunch. We were initially set on J. Alexander’s but opted to try North Italia for something new.
Parking was a breeze since it wasn’t busy, and we were warmly greeted as soon as we walked in, which was a pleasant surprise. We chose to sit inside to enjoy some AC, even though the outdoor area looked pretty inviting. The interior had a fresh, Miami-like vibe, with stylish artwork and big windows that made the space feel open and airy (sorry, no pictures this time!).
For starters, we shared the Italian meatballs, Prosciutto Bruschetta, and a Caesar salad with chicken. The meatballs were just okay. The green sauce they came with added some flavor, but overall, they didn’t leave a lasting impression—maybe because I was more focused on the other dishes and by the time I got to them, they were lukewarm.
The Bruschetta, though, was a standout! Delicious, although there was a bit too much prosciutto for my taste, so I ended up taking most of it off. But I’d still recommend it; it’s the one dish that I keep thinking about.
The Caesar salad with chicken was decent, though a bit too salty. I’m not sure if it was the dressing or seasoning, but it was just a tad overpowering. I enjoyed it enough but couldn’t finish it.
For my entree, I took a gamble on the lasagna. I rarely order lasagna in the States (nothing quite compares to Italy!), but I was craving it. Unfortunately, it didn’t pay off. The dish was smothered in an overly runny, melted cheese that made it look like soup. The braised beef was so salty that it was inedible, and even my boyfriend agreed after tasting it. The pasta itself wasn’t bad, and the cheese—while overly liquid—wasn’t terrible. If you’re okay with that, you might enjoy it, but I couldn’t eat more than a few bites.
When our server asked if everything was alright, I gave a polite nod, but he caught on when he saw my barely touched lasagna. Next thing I know, the manager came over to ask for feedback. Honestly, I wasn’t planning to write a review, but since they brought in the manager, here we are!
The manager was very kind and explained they were trying some new things, so she appreciated any feedback. I mentioned the saltiness, and she graciously took the lasagna off the bill, which was thoughtful, though not necessary. I appreciated it.
Would I come back? Yes, to give it another shot and try something different. But I’ll definitely steer clear of...

Read moreWe live in the neighborhood and went for Christmas eve dinner. We were sat promptly our server seemed new and a little green but super friendly and smiled the whole way through service. Our table was big and roomy and very comfortable. The atmosphere was really nice We shared some sort of crostini appetizer. not too memorable but not bad.the. Entrees took a while to come out, maybe 1/2 hour from the time we finished our apps. Not the end of the world and they were apologetic. My main complaint with the restaurant was the food. My mother in law ordered a mushroom pizza. it was basic and bland , my wife was gluten free and was told the bronzino was ok to order. it had a lemon caper sauce on the menu which was left off, It was really only 1/2 a bronzino and when i say it was dry and over cooked im being polite. the fish looked as though it was over cooked to start with but then sat on some holding area for 1/2 hour. really bad dish, the pastas read so good on menu but i’m pretty sure the pesto in mine was store bought. i seasoned and just not good. my son also had a pasta made with no love. no cheese was or fresh pepper offered. i guess i was just surprised that a chain that spend so much money on a beautiful restaurant with a Name of North Italia would have such mediocre to bad food. all and all i wanted to like it but food is lacking and when it comes down to it i would rather sit at a tiny table if the...
