We visited on Saturday, 4/5, to celebrate our anniversary and had a lovely experience. Valentijn was our waiter, and he took great care of us. We had made a reservation, but it didn’t seem necessary—there was only one other table there at the time, which surprised us considering how good the food and service were. To kick things off, they brought out champagne to celebrate our anniversary, which was such a thoughtful touch. We both ordered the burger—it was very good. I swapped the fries for a salad, which was a $2 upcharge; not sure it was really worth it, but it was fine. One thing to note: the menu online doesn’t match the menu in person, so just be prepared for that. For dessert, we ordered the banana bread pudding, and they went above and beyond by writing “Happy Anniversary” on the plate and comping it—such a sweet gesture that really made the night special. Parking was easy. It’s valet and says $35, but if you’re dining at the restaurant, the first 2 hours are free—just make sure to mention you’re there to eat. Overall, it was a great experience. The food was great, the service was excellent, and while the drinks were just average, we left very happy. It’s a bit of a mystery why it wasn’t busier. One thing to note: they do automatically add a 20% gratuity to the bill, so keep that in mind. We’ll definitely be back!

We decided to take a quick day trip from Orlando to the Fort Lauderdale Beach Area and ended up having a great dining experience at Steelpan Kitchen & Bar located in the Sonesta Hotel situated directly across the beach on the A1A. Their outdoor seating area was spacious and provided an island ambiance with the sound of the waves and a light ocean breeze coming in. Our server Amy was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and made suggestions based on our likes. The menu, with American-Caribbean fusion dishes, had just the right amount of choices to give us options yet not overwhelm us. We started with their Callaloo Artichoke Dip, then tried their Blackened Mahi, Island Coconut Shrimp Tacos, and Mahi Sandwich for our main course. We ended with a trio of their desserts which included the Lava Chocolate Fantasy, Steelpan Coconut Shell Sundae, and my absolute favorite, Key Lime Pie. All in all, it was a great dining experience from start to finish and we have decided to book a weekend to celebrate our upcoming 18th wedding anniversary.

My mom's 61st birthday was on July 31st and I called to see if they would be able to accommodate 13 people. If they couldn't I was going to find another place that could. I called them several times and got the voice-mail. So I left messages with my name, number and asking if they could accommodate 13 people. Also I did the contact us form on their website and to this day August 7th I haven't received a call back nor did I receive an email back from the contact us. It's sad because my mom liked the menu and wanted to try it for her birthday. We ended up at Black Rock instead and she still had a great time. I'm just disappointed in the treatment of this restaurant and how they let my mother and me down for her special day.

A Spectacular Evening at Steel Pan Kitchen & Bar!

Review: From the moment we stepped into Steel Pan Kitchen & Bar, we were swept away by an experience that can only be described as spectacular! The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who made us feel welcomed and cared for throughout our visit. The food was nothing short of divine, featuring a menu that bursts with flavors and dishes presented so beautifully, they nearly took our breath away.

As if the delicious food and stellar service weren’t enough, the view from the restaurant added a magical touch to our dining experience. Overlooking a stunning panorama that captivated us, it was the perfect backdrop to an evening of culinary delights.

But what truly set our night apart was the live entertainment provided by the fantastic Danny O. He was the star of the evening, enchanting us with his musical talents. Danny performed every song we requested and did so with such flair that it was clear he is not just a performer, but a true artist who deserves to be a recorded talent. His presence brought an extra layer of joy to our experience at Steel Pan Kitchen & Bar.

I highly recommend visiting Steel Pan Kitchen & Bar, where the combination of great food, service, and entertainment creates a truly unforgettable experience. Danny O’s performance is a must-see – he’s a star in the making!

I hope this review captures the wonderful experience you had at Steel Pan...

Sat at the outside bar for an early dinner & sunset bubbles. The bartender Indira seemed personable and somewhat attentive. She was busy chasing a bee & telling customers that she had slept until 11:00 AM. I received two complimentary drink cards from the Sonesta. I ordered a Prosecco then my dinner. I ordered a second Prosecco right before my dinner arrived. I gave Indira the drink tickets with $10 for a tip. I finished my dinner and requested a third Prosecco and requested my dinner check. At this time I asked to have separate checks since my company does not reimburse for alcohol. I received one check with two Prosecco’s and my dinner. I was confused and asked her to separate the check and I would pay for the third Prosecco. Indira tells me I had four Prosecco’s and said she was not going to argue with me. I explained I had two & just ordered a third. She literally was completely confrontational & aggressive. Indira said it was all on camera. After I explained how offensive it was to tell me I had twice the drinks I actually had, I asked her to pull the camera footage, she then said I was not going to be charged for the Prosecco’s. I paid for the food and left the full (third) Prosecco. I went to management of the Sonesta and they were apologetic but took no action to correct the situation. *Side note all tips are included in the final bill. Do not...
