El Taquito — Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale

We went to this restaurant last night (1/1/21) thinking we would enjoy the food. I had friends in from out of town staying at the Sonesta hotel, right next door. The restaurant was fully packed (no social distancing) and it took some time for us to be acknowledged. We decided to place to go orders and return to the hotel. After placing our order, we waited to pay as the waitress was supposed to be ringing us up she walked off without saying a word. It was another 10 minutes before we could pay. We waited outside for the order to be ready. After another 20 minutes we followed up (because no one came to us) and was told not ready. At that time the outside area customers had mostly finished and paid, about 4 of 6 tables were now open for our preferred outdoor seating. We asked to have our to go at an outside table where we could also order drinks. We were told no because the order is to go we could not get a table😳 Never heard of such a thing but ok...The remaining customers left the outside area so all tables were free now (but after that push back we knew we didnt want to give any more money to this establishment for drinks, etc). They had us waiting another 20 min and again we had to go check because even though we were standing waiting we were obviously invisible. The food had been sitting out ready and now cold. We took it back to the hotel and it definitely was not enjoyed. Nice portion size but 1 of the 3 orders was wrong and the taste of the food was on the bland side. The other reviews about bad customer service were spot on! Even one of the hotel staff members, after seeing where we ordered, said he would not have recommended next door had he seen us before we headed over there....

Just keeping it real and fair. I find it rather unfair and a personal problem if you think you were discriminated against just because they missed your table. As a restaurant worker especially in a high-paced atmosphere you have no idea how hectic the mind can get trying to keep up on taking care of several things at once. I may miss somebody every now and then but we do our best and I am sure every now and then there's a customer that takes it personally. We can't worry about that person that takes every little thing as discrimination or take it personally. That's their own personal problem that takes everything to that level. We do our best and you have to expect they are human and they may have lost their train of thought of who was next to be served and sometimes a server may think that table may not be ready to approach and you'll come back around. You can't always accuse people of something like that without proof. That's a form of racism to assume that everywhere you go because you got poor service it's because of discrimination. Because every single person out there has experienced bad service from time to time. so you can't accuse anybody of anything , even poor service without understanding the whole dynamics of what they're going through even though you think it's only 3 ft away. They might have had 20 things going on in their mind and had something else more pending that they had to rush to and then five other people stop them on the way to what they were doing. You have to really be a mind-reader and proof that they're discriminating you for what you think before You...

THE FOOD IS VERY SALTY AND THE STAFF HAVE A VERY SALTY ATTITUDE! GREAT LOCATION WITH A HORRIBLE RESTAURANT! I WATCHED THEM TALK WITH RANDOM PEOPLE HANGING ALL OVER THE DINNER TABLE AND THEN TRIED TO GIVE US THE TABLE AND BE SEATED, WHEN I ASKED THEM TO CLEAN IT, THEY SAID IT WAS ALREADY CLEANED. WHEN I MIENTIONED THEY WERE JUST CONVERSING, LEANING OVER THE TABLE WITH NO MASKS, HANDS ALLOVER ETC THEY GOT AN EXTREMELY INAPPROPRIATE AND IMPATIENT ATTITUDE WHICH IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! The service continued with an impolite and inpatient attitude which led to horrible service and eventually food. The drink was watered down, it was an icy drink, they brought our food out with no silverware or napkins. We actually had to get up to go inside of ask for utensils and napkins to eat with.

People stand in front by the tables on the walkway so close to you and they already have the tables squeezed together-its terrible!! NO SOCIAL DISTANCE WHAT SO EVER! There is also a bench seating area where people constantly stare at you, even some homeless people sit and lay there on that bench the whole hour we were eating talking to himself. It looked like the people that are on drugs, ready to rob, staring you down and you will feel very uncomfortable and unsafe.
