Staying at the Sonesta close by and had walked past this establishment quite a few times, it's something of a hole in the wall, and closes at 3pm so I hadn't tried anything until the day prior to this when I stopped by for a "Red Eye" coffee, which is drip coffee with an added shot of espresso (it was great!).
My hotel stay did not include breakfast and this morning I thought I would try to find somewhere to eat so had a quick look on Google for breakfast places nearby and I found that it had a great score!
So I decided to pop down. I opted for a cappuccino and an almond croissant which is my usual indulgence when going to a nice cafe. The person who served me (I believe was AC, who I keep seeing mentioned in other reviews) was really pleasant and served me super quick.
The almond croissant looked great in the window but on tasting I have to say this was exceptional. I've eaten breakfast at fine dining restaurants in London who had comparable almond croissants, these were simply fantastic. Surely made on location the crispiness and lamination of the pastry was great and the interior was moist and super almondy.
As I sat I noticed a big queue forming so I sense this place is well known amongst locals! This is a gem of a place. I will most certainly be back. Maybe even for lunch today!
This is a small chain with 3 stores in the Fort Lauderdale area, the quality is evident and with luck it will continue to grow. Hopefully with a continued...
Read moreUndercooked omelette on the bread, bread is sliced completely through, so all that undercooked juice is just leaking out from all directions, the cheapest coffee you can find served as premium. No place to wash your hands. 0 customer service, not even a single smile. Everything is self served, no table service. I’ve seen people just leaving without even finishing the food, and I understand why. This is not the Nanou that is on Las Olas or the one on Lauderdale by the Sea, this is a cheap fake version that has no idea how to make a coffee, how proper omelette on a bread should look like and no customer service whatsoever. Calling the experience as Disappointed is the least harshest rating I could think of. I’m sure his location won’t last. As for people who want to try real tasty French style food and a decent coffee just visit other locations, you won’t be disappointed. This one is...
Read moreAnthony Bourdain once said, “if you find yourself walking down the street one day with nothing to do and you come across a restaurant with a lineup in front of it, go to that restaurant…chances are it’s gonna be great.” Wife and I found ourselves in this exact situation while we were walking around the area waiting for Bonnet House to open. We had two amazing lattes there and two great sandwiches (the Mediterranean and the Parisian). The guy on cash, AC, is an absolute gem of a person! He and the guy making the sandwiches have a good hustle going on. As a chef who has been in the industry for 12+ years and eaten all around the world, I HIGHLY...
