November 2024 From my last review, you would know I love this place. It's so disappointing to experience bad service from a place you love. I came here the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and placed a big order for take-out. I broke it up into two orders. My first order was 4 lbs of seafood and I chose the garlic noodles, sausage, and broccoli as my add-ons. My second order was 3 lbs of seafood, and I chose sausage and broccoli. The lady who was taking my order asked if I was planning to eat the food tomorrow (Thanksgiving Day). I said yes. She asked if I wanted the sauce on the side or on the food. I asked her what she recommended, and she said on the side, and I listened. Big mistake! When I got my order, there were three small paper containers holding the sauce. I was shocked by the amount I received for such a big order. The containers weren't even filled to the top. The amount of sauce I received is nothing close to the amount they put in the bag when they make it. I went back in and asked for more sauce because the amount seems absolutely too little. She said one container is for the 3 lbs, and the two were the 4 lbs. Like what. That math doesn't make any sense. The 3 lbs should also get two sauces, and even then it wasn't enough. In order to get more, I had to pay an additional $7 for another small container of the sauce. To spend $200 on seafood and still being told you need to pay for more sauce. When I got to my brother's place, my family and I ended up pouring the sauce over the food that night so all of the headache was for nothing. We also had to add water to the sauce just to have it cover all the meat. As we were doing that, I realized there was no broccoli!! Broccoli with the sauce is my favorite and to see no broccoli on BOTH my orders. WTF! The whole experience was so disheartening. June 2024 I came here yesterday to celebrate my partner's birthday. We were planning to go to a different seafood boil. But we saw the "People on Yelp love us" sticker and had to check it out. Boy we were happy we chose this place. At 6pm on a weekday, it wasn't crowded. We didn't have to wait for a table. My first impression was that the place was brightly lit. The light fixtures were nice. It gave it a classy look. Definitely felt like date night. I went to the bathroom and was extremely impressed by this place. The bathroom was cleaned, there were brand new toothbrushes provided, and a mouthwash dispenser! Like what! I immediately ran to my partner and told him we found the right place. The staff were super friendly and attentive. Like my water was constantly being refilled without even asking. They saw my partner took off his gloves to take pictures and brought him new ones right away. Now on to the food. I am not a big seafood fan but I definitely left here as a fan of this place. First the price is based on market price so it fluctuate. We spent 90 dollars after ordering 3 lbs of seafood. The most pricey item was 1/2 lb of snow crabs, when was about $19. The calamari was least pricey at $9 for 1/2 lb. Very reasonable price. The best part was that we got two free sides for ordering 3 lbs worth of seafood. We got the garlic pasta and broccoli. The sauce was delicious. The medium spicy level was perfect! We also ordered garlic bread. Oh my gosh I want their garlic bread recipe. It was so delicious. We were not able to finish our entire meal and therefore we were able to get a doggie bag for the leftovers. Lastly parking was easy. Behind the building is a metered parking lot. I really cannot wait to come back. I have nothing...

Came here for my birthday with my boyfriend and it started off great. Food came quickly and it was fresh and actually really good, I got a shrimp seafood boil and my bf got fish and chips. Our waitress was ok, but then she said she had to go on break so another server would take over, we didn’t have a problem with this. Anyways, fast forward, we finished eating which took about 45minutes and throughout that whole time, no one serviced us, we even wanted to order dessert but again, no server. We were waiting for about five minutes after we finished eating and we realize that no one still hasn’t came to our table, not even to give us the bill. At this time it had been over an hour since we start eating to finish eating to sitting there waiting so then we started a timer to see how long it would take for them to bring us the bill and we got to 22 minutes until we had to like hail a server. we even packed up the table, even clean the table, before a server that was serving another table looked over at is sitting there waiting. Mind you the restaurant was not full, there was only four different tables that had a group of people including us. Anyways, the server that we had to call over that was serving another table she brought us our bill and again we had to sit there and wait another five minutes before we just decided to get up and walk up to the front to pay and leave. After we paid and we’re walking out the door a server literally ran after us asking us about the tip, his words “ you know tip is not included in the bill right?”. We waited for a total of about 30 to 45 minutes just to get the bill or any type of service after initially being served.

I previously went to a different location and that one was actually really good but this one is a definite no, go to the one in...

I have been going to Cap’t Loui for many years now and have always loved the place for it’s seafood boil. However, a recent visit had left me with a negative experience.

My bf and I recently went to Cap’t Loui for dinner on Memorial Day. I just came out of work and we were both very hungry. Since it was a holiday, we expected it to be busy so we didn’t mind the wait for a table. However, once we were seated we felt ignored by our server. People who arrived after us had their orders taken before us. I had to flag a server down. The server I initially called over apparently wasn’t our designated server so we were waiting again for our server. Finally we got our orders taken but little did we know we had to wait almost 45 minutes for our simple order of a lobster roll, soft shell crab, and half dozen raw oysters.

From the time we got seated to the time we got our food, almost an hour had passed. We initially debated on leaving because of the long wait during the time we were waiting for our orders to be taken. By the end of our meal, I wished we had left and found another place. The food was not worth waiting a whole hour for. The lobster roll had small pieces of lobster and tasted too much like celery. The soft shell crab was good but not amazing. The oysters were also okay. If you come to Cap’t Loui, definitely only get the seafood boil but be...

Food was really good. I’ve been to the Harlem location a dozen times. The food is absolutely amazing.. the Harlem one when I would visit maybe 5 years ago had prices listed. This is my first time going to the Fort Lee location. There are no prices listed. I am elastic to prices if the food is good I don’t really care what the prices are. The food was amazing so I didn’t really care what the price was when I received the bill although the amount of food didn’t align with the price so for example I got a pound of snow crab legs with a pound of head off shrimp that was 70 bucks. It came with one 2 inch round potato and one 2 inch corn, and maybe a handful of broccoli florettes. They have a card posted on a table that because of the price increase they’re only giving you one corn and one potato. You know a seafood boil has corn and potato. There’s no way around that to charge these high prices and then restrict what should be mandatory in a boil kind of rub me the wrong way. However, the food is good The service is good and the place is very pleasing but to charge $70 for a 2 pound boil and then give me 2 inch potato and a 2 inch corn on a cob left a bad taste in my mouth other than that, the food left a great taste in my mouth

My friend and I were craving a seafood boil and decided to give Capt Loui a try — and wow, we were not disappointed! Everything was absolutely delicious, a real celebration of flavors. We went around 3 PM, so it was quiet, and we had the place to ourselves. The service was great — super attentive and welcoming. We started with the peach lemonade (refreshing!) and the piña colada, which was excellent. The soft shell crab basket came with fries, and I got the lemon pepper seasoning — honestly, some of the best fries I’ve ever had. The seafood boil options are great — you can mix and match with 2, 3, or 4-pound combos that come with corn, potatoes, and extra free sides depending on your choice. Being able to do half-pound portions of different items was a big plus! We also had the garlic pasta (so good), and the fried seafood platter which had a mix of everything — the Cajun fries that came with it were amazing too. The seafood was super fresh and the Cajun sauce was packed with flavor. Definitely coming back, and highly recommend!
