Behle Street by Sheli — Restaurant in Fort Mitchell

Gem of a place in Northern Kentucky. A great variety of options for vegetarians, so my husband and I stop here fairly regularly. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, and the owner is a delight. She's always there, making sure everything is just right. The fried pickle appetizer is great, and I really love the salsa that comes with the tortilla chips appetizer. You can get the same salsa on the veggie quesadilla, which is a hearty meal in and of itself, loaded with broccoli and cauliflower florets and other good things. The portobello mushroom wrap is always great, though I don't really care for the sauce that comes with it. There's a really great pineapple-based dip that comes with the sweet potato fries and I prefer to dip my wrap in that, or nothing at all. It's plenty juicy from the mushrooms, anyway. The pastas are delicious, but know that if you get the olive oil dressing, it's going to have a lot of oil. The marinara feels a lot lighter and fresher. My husband loves the strawberry field greens salad with blackened chicken or shrimp or scallops, on any given night. He's also a fan of the cajun chicken pizza (or something like that). For lunch today I had the Capellini Behle Street with Blackened Scallops and Shrimp and a Caesar side salad. Real good but someone in the kitchen doesn't know how to cook shrimp or blacken seafood for that matter.

CAPPELLINI -Flavor: 3.5 Good flavor. Would have been a 4 to 4.5 stars had the shrimp and scallops been blackened more. -Quality: 2 Never had shrimp that over cooked in my life. I'm not exaggerating. Like rubber. Had to chew for a while. So sad. Scallops were wonderful though. I'm guessing they were cooked by 2 different people CAESAR SALAD -Flavor: 4 Excellent. Did curbside pickup. They were prompt. Next time I may skip the pasta and stick with the salad. Just not worth paying 18 dollars for beef jerkyesque shrimp. It’s not like me to leave a review for a restaurant. However, after several visits to this restaurant as I love the food and music, I can’t overlook anymore that the Owner caters to specific clients and will overlook reservations and people she does not know in order to maintain relationships. This past Saturday we had reservations for 6:30 pm. We watched 2 parties come in after us and be seated. At 7:20 pm, as the Owner walked past us, we told her we would just go elsewhere. She simply said “okay”. This after telling us she would seat us twice. Not once where we offered a drink while we were waiting, apologies, or anything else.

This is the third time we have had issues with reservations, normally waiting an hour or more after are reservation time. I’ve always made excuses for this as Behle Street and the owner are well known. I simply can’t anymore.

What business let’s customers walk away? A business ran by an Owner that does not appreciate and value all of the customers the same.

Love the music, love the food but refuse to give anymore of my hard earned money to a restaurant ran by an Owner who is so blanant about who she wants sitting...
