My siblings and I were recommended to stop by and give them a try on our return road trip to Texas. Needless to say this is not a place we could recommend because the experience was horrible and we regret stopping by.
The regretful Cattle Stampede adventure began while ordering a Coke, I was asked if I wanted a diet Coke, which I can understand that maybe the waiter didn't hear me clearly or misunderstood. However, upon clarifying if they carried regular Coke, I was greeted with a clarifying response of "Coke Zero"? My drink order was received and it was a regular Coke.
Again, the miscommunication over my drink order could've just been a misunderstanding until it came to the food order.
My siblings opted for the buffet which they said was serviceable but not great. However, I was wanting a cheeseburger, which I ordered the hamburger with cheese while also requesting, TWICE, without the "secret sauce" (felt like ketchup, thousand island dressing, and mustard), even pointing to the menu and watched the waiter write down my order. ("31 F*") No where did he denote the requested "86" of the secret sauce but remembered to share that I requested cheese. Cheeseburger received WITH the "secret sauce" that I had requested to be removed. Now the frustrations are starting to mount, but I was patient and tried to see this as just another mistake but one that was also fixable.
10 minutes later, the waiter hadn't looked at our table to get his attention, leading me to walk up with my plate to the expo area to try and get my order corrected. After standing there for a few minutes, as my food steadily got colder, no one asked to help me or see what might be the problem, even after being seen walking back there and standing there.
At this point my mind was made up, and I dropped my plate in front of the tea dispensers in the expo area and walked back to my table. I was done with my experience and thoroughly upset. After the burger plate was found by Alberto and he approached the table, I shared why I was upset and that I didn't want the burger anymore and wouldn't be paying.
To put a finer point on our experience, not once were we checked on or were drinks refilled until after the burger plate was found and my frustrations shared.
So the food won't kill you and it might take more effort than what is required to order a simple drink, but one has to wonder how this establishment has a 4+ rating at the time of this review, unless it's simply from the people who just order from the buffet or are local regulars.
We will not be back and cannot (read will not) recommend it to anyone.
**Response to management: waiter's name has been updated to just "waiter", but it was a Hispanic gentleman that was working in the back room. However, how was I expected to speak with management if everyone working in your restaurant ignored me/us. We tried to get the issue resolved, but your lack of acceptance to our experience...
Read moreWent out for my birthday dinner and was let down entirely. From the reviews thought it might be worth the try but I'm under the assumption the others have never had good food before as this was definitely not the best it wasn't even close to comparing to good food. Tiny cup of dressing to go with the could have made at home salad and no warning it came with egg which could be an allergy problem for others and the dressing was terrible. Not a lot of options to choose from pretty basic menu. Came to a steakhouse expecting good steak but my steak was overcooked not once but twice the meat quality itself was horrible full of gristle and tough the color of it wasn't right either may have well been a hockey puck. Ordered the steak and chicken combo the chicken had the hard tendon part still in it so that was spit back in to a napkin so I had a salad and baked potato as my birthday meal. Was told it would be comped instead I was charged for a chicken plate. Was also told they would be given a free cheesecake slice for all the problems with the steak but when I got my bill it was also charged absolutely didn't even order it as we were wanting the chocolate cake for celebration but with all of the mishaps was just ready to go so paid and left hungry and mad. No pizza available for the kids so ended up having to go with a hamburger for one , he liked it and the size of it, my other had the grilled cheese , just hate buying those not something I would consider a meal but given the lack of choices what could we do. My oldest had the chicken nachos and he loves nachos but said those were not good at all and the chicken was super dry. Considering we were only one of 4 tables absolutely flabbergasted by the horrible experience. The server tried, I'm also not a fan of someone standing behind me when asking me if the steak is right the second time made me feel super uncomfortable to be watched like that. The bread given was not the pumpernickel as advertised online just simple yeast rolls that were stale and cold the "blooming" onion was more devastating fallen petals of fried bits so I can see why it's complimentary. The two stars are for the mechanical bull ride being free though should have someone in there besides a server to operate it as we had to wait for the ride and no explaining of what to do for the kids besides lean back. No asking of what speed or setting so when my oldest went for his turn he was almost injured and considering he plays sports not a good thing should have started slow and built up after seeing if they could handle it not just full speed ahead with someone new to it It was just an awkward time when should've been fun. Definitely some things needing to be...
Read moreI hadn't been to the cattle stampede since it changed names and switched over. Actually I had been there a few times to deliver food to people through doordash but this was the first time I went in and ate. It was a weekday and it was during the buffet bar. I was jonesing for a steak and baked potato so I went in with all intentions to order from a lunch menu and not get the bar if they had one. I thought when they opened their design was to not have a buffet bar during the week. However when I got inside and was seated I asked for a menu and I said that they don't have one that is just the buffet. I'm assuming they meant during the day and weekday and if they still have a menu at night and weekend but I'm not 100% sure. I was a little taken aback but actually the bar look great as always like it used to at western shoes and even better in fact. I said what about steak and she said you can add a ribeye for 10 dollars I was so hungry for steak that I ordered one and added it. I went to the bar however and it was great amazing looking. I ended up getting fried chicken and some shrimp and stuff too and a big salad. When my steak came I was expecting a little 6 oz or something but it was a big ribeye at least 10 oz and it was really great Not as good as I'll make it home of course but it was very good by Western sizzlin standards. I ordered it medium rare and it can cook that way just a hint of pink blood and warm tasty beef all around the pink middle. I enjoyed it and I enjoyed all my other food especially the salad bar which I always love. At the end I even got some chicken livers for iron and ate them with ketchup yum yum. The sweet tea was great and the service was all good as always. I left paid for my mail and left head dollar tip I love the kettle Stampede just like I loved western shoes and great great restaurant in four painting and I hope it never closes Viva La...
