Holiday Inn Express & Suites Fort Payne, an IHG Hotel — Hotel in Fort Payne

We pulled into Fort Payne a little after 2 PM we had driven from NY and were attending a wedding in a few hours, we had been on the road for days and we still had a 1/2 hour drive ahead of us in order to get to the actually wedding that day. The only reason I chose this motel was the IHG express name ( usually they go out of their way, though what I asked did not involve anyone really going out of the way ) I went in to the lobby and very politely asked the Clerk who was just sitting there if she could check to see if our room was maybe ready. ( it was after 2, I know check in is at 3 ). I was met with a very abrupt "NO, check in is at 3", She wouldn't even look ................................. so that was my 1st impression, rude at least humor me and pretend to look. I don't think she was the actual desk clerk as I saw her outside smoking by the door (as in I had to walk through her smoke not very professional ) when we came back at 3 (after driving around some more.........) . I would like to thank her for not going out of her way to actually check the status of the room It left us with a great 1st impression of Alabamas southern charm.....made NY look friendly. The clerk that checked us in was super friendly as was the one that checked us out . The breakfast was good it was actually out earlier than 6:30. Room was clean. Everyone else we encountered were friendly. We left the next AM at 6:45 AM and were on the road and at a wedding the night before so I can't really say much else about the motel other than out of 5 motel stays 3 of which were IHG, 6 nights 10 states countless rest stops and one airport this was the only rude person we...

We were visiting Ft. Payne for the weekend and stayed at the Holiday Inn based on the reviews. The staff was very nice and helpful. The Hotel grounds were clean and well cared for. The lobby was clean and hand sanitizer stations were available. We had two adjoining rooms, one with a King bed and bath and one with two Queen beds and a bath. The Hotel rooms were clean and smelled fresh. The beds were very comfortable and provided a very good night's sleep. The bathrooms were ok. The King room had a tub/shower, the Queen room had a walk In shower. They were both clean however the toilet tissue holders were very loose and the toilet tissue kept falling off in the Queen room. Perhaps they need to install new holders. The toilets were standard height, not the newer chair height that you find in most newer places. The shower head in the King room was adjustable however the showerhead in the Queen room was not and did not have enough water pressure to shower well. Perhaps it needs a replacement. However, the rooms were very clean and very comfortable.||We enjoyed the breakfast both morning we were there. They provided hot foods of biscuits and sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, sausages, mini muffins, yogurt, Apple's bananas, cinnamon rolls juices and coffee. We checked into the hotel after a long drive. Around 10:30pm, my family was awoken by a phone call. The man on the line claimed to be from the hotel and wanted to know if we had checked in. He said he saw my signature on the check in sheet but I wasn’t checked in on the online system. We had not booked the hotel ahead of time so without checking in how was I going to get a room key. He was very rude during the call and this is honestly something that was not necessary after waking me up. In the morning, while getting ready the cleaning person walked into our room without knocking. She claims she thought we checked out. However, since the gentleman called and didn’t know I checked in even though I had a room key, I was curious how we would’ve checked out. We had paid for the room when we checked in. When I went to the front desk to discuss the phone call at night and the cleaning person just walking in the woman at the front desk claimed that we never paid for the room. I logged into my bank to show the charges. After arguing with me she claimed that I was stealing the room even though I had already been charged. Since then i have 3 charges on my bank account each for $167 and also 1 for $192. Based on the unprofessional behavior at this hotel, I would never recommend...
