Waiter spilled dipping oil over my shirt and shorts.
Talk about terrible service. I'm a Destin resident and once in a while go to Clemenza's as that is a popular place for business meetings. This occasion was 6/24/21 around 18:00 but we were seated a little later. It was a business meeting.
Waiter was serving dipping oil and bread. Leaned over and the oil poured down my right sleeve (special occasions shirt) and shorts. It was the mistake of a poorly trained waiter. Fair enough. It's what happened next that upset me. Because the waiter did not have any cloths to wipe my shirt and short down with I went to the rest room. When I got back he'd impartially wiped down my chair. So, I went to find someone to give me some napkins. No one was to be found, so I decided to procure a napkin and utensils from an unoccupied table. But the oncoming server snapped at me. Fair enough. I replied that her waiter spilled oil all over me and I could not find any napkins. The lady said she would be right with me. In the mean time, I went back to the restroom to get some paper towels. Together we wiped down the chair.
Dinner was fine. Business as usual...until I realized that the waiter had also spilled oil on the table and failed to clean it up. I got messier.
At the end of the night, I had to go to the bar and ask for a plastic bag....I drove with colleagues and had to take off my shirt and put it into the plastic bag so I would not get their car seat oily.
I've washed my shirt/short 2 times now. Oil is coming out. Hope I'm able to salvage it.
As for Clemenza's. won't be going back there again...including any business meetings. We can eat elsewhere. If for whatever reason, I have to go back...I'm wearing a disposable shirt. I suggest you do the same.
Manager didn't even bother...
Read moreMediocre food. Slow delivery. Lackluster cook (clearly not a chef). Indifferent wait staff. To me this all means bad management. How this "restaurant" won awards defies belief -- they must have bribed the reviewers.
I went with my parents to this place, because my mother liked it. We ordered a pizza for lunch. My mother wanted a vegetarian half and my father wanted sausage. The server told us it was no problem, they can make it half-and-half. After waiting 45 minutes, the pizza arrived. It was the most sorry looking pizza I have ever seen (frozen pizzas look better), served on a cheap looking aluminum pizza pan with a significant warp that caused it to rock. So much for presentation. Even worse the dough was not even cut completely, so we had to cut it with a knife. Is it really that difficult to fully cut a thin crust pizza? The pizza tasted alright, but the amount of vegetables and sausages seemed skimpy.
Then the bill arrived. We expected to pay for half of a sausage pizza ($15/2) and half vegetarian pizza ($16/2). Instead we were charged $16 + $4 extra. There was no mention of the extra charge when we ordered the pizza. When we asked the the server about the extra charge, she said "That's just how we do it." I was livid and told the server, "That's not right. We will not becoming back here ever again." She didn't seem to care.
I have eaten in ordinary restaurants in Italy. This is a pathetic excuse for an Italian restaurant that rips of its patrons and just...
Read moreI was in the Uptown Station area, and after hearing some wonderful reviews by word of mouth on this place I stopped in.
I stopped in just before the dinner rush on a Saturday. All I wanted was a pizza.
Greeted by a polite hostess, I was directed to the bar to place my take out order. A nicely laid out, simple menu to which I ordered a vegetarian pizza. Caramelized Onions, cherry tomatoes, and spinach.
The bartender who took my order said to expect a 15 minute wait, I had no problem with that. I sat at the bar, and was offered freshly baked bread with an olive oil/parmesan cheese/red pepper and herb mixture to dip the bread into. Delicious and light.
I waited slightly longer than 15 minutes...about 22 to be exact, and the pizza cook also included a bow tie bread appetizer apologizing for the wait. It was not needed, but it stood out at as a class act.
Now on to the main course. The pizza was excellent. Sometimes many of us are overburdened with flavor, and we have to step back and realize the simplicity of the ingredients present. It is a simple tomato sauce that provides moisture more than flavor, which accents the natural flavor of the cheeses used. The caramelized onions and cherry tomatoes were the basis of this pie. Sweet and extremely flavorful. I feel the spinach was mainly used for color/presentation. However, I will never complain about having to consume fresh cooked spinach.
Wonderful service, great food and a very relaxed atmosphere. There is no doubt that I will...
