The Abstract has a stunning interior that immediately sets an upscale tone, and our party of ten appreciated being seated early for our Friday night reservation. The space was surprisingly empty at 7:15, which gave us a relaxed start, though the loud rap playlist felt a little mismatched with the otherwise elegant atmosphere.
Service was friendly, though a bit uneven. Our server—who also happened to be the bartender—handled our large table with grace, but we didn’t feel fully confident in how she navigated dietary restrictions. Two of our guests had serious allergies, and her responses didn’t inspire trust. Likewise, when asked about vegan and vegetarian options, she admitted she wasn’t very familiar with that side of the menu, which felt unusual for an establishment of this caliber.
The pacing of the meal also left room for improvement: appetizers and entrées arrived simultaneously, cutting short the chance to enjoy each course. On the bright side, the staff acknowledged the misstep by bringing out warm milk and cookies for the table—a thoughtful touch.
As for the food itself, it was a mixed bag. My farmhouse burger (with a gluten-free bun) was flavorful, though the bottom bun was so dense it was inedible. My husband’s flatbread pizza, unfortunately, earned a disappointing 3 out of 10.
Overall, The Abstract is a beautiful spot with potential, but the experience fell short of matching its polished appearance. With more attentive handling of dietary needs, better menu knowledge from staff, and improved pacing in the kitchen, it could live up to the promise its...
Read moreBeautiful space, but underwhelming experience.
I absolutely loved the dim lighting and overall aesthetic. The Abstract is visually stunning and perfect for photos. However, the experience fell short in a few key areas.
When we arrived, we weren’t greeted and ended up seating ourselves. It wasn’t clear whether that was standard or an oversight, but it felt a bit disorganized. Shortly after, another party with a reservation arrived and was vaguely waved to a table with a casual, “I think I have you seated over there,” which lacked warmth and professionalism.
While the plating and presentation of the food were beautiful, the dishes themselves didn’t quite live up to expectations. The drinks also seemed watered down, and after reading similar feedback in other reviews, it seems to be a recurring issue. We also had to ask for water refills, which felt like another missed detail in service.
The atmosphere is undeniably classy, but the music didn’t match the mood and took away from the ambiance rather than enhancing it. (Big fan Biz Markie and Nelly in a club atmosphere) Overall, I expected a more refined and attentive experience given how polished the space appears.
It’s a lovely spot for photos, but I’m not sure I’ll be returning based on the service and quality...
Read moreThe abstract is a great spot if your looking for an interesting and engaging dining experience. The food was delicious and different while the drinks were immaculate and experiential. We has the hummus plate for starters. All three dips were delightful with warm tasty peta bread. Entrees were BLT and Brie and berries grilled cheese. Personally I love the grilled cheese, but if I had one critique I wish there was a crunchy aspect besides the bread to break up all the smooth soft textures. The DRINKS are why I'll come back again. They were so different than anything else in FW which is hard to do these days. We had the midnight rose negroni, the pineapple reverie, and the honey lemon buzz. The negroni was so impeccable with an espresso ice cube. Pineapple shines in the reverie, and the honey lemon buzz came with a buzz button sure to shock you into a great night. We sat on the patio for meals and moved inside for night caps. Stunning from both perspectives. Got to meet the GM and Co-owner. He and the rest of the staff were so kind and only added to the fun of...
