I write this review from a place of experience and thus greater empathy for circumstance. I will spare a long preface but know that I too am a restaurant server. We came in and the hostess was great, she conversed and asked if we had a seating preference. Yes wonderful we would like a booth! When we get to our booth we wait about 5-7 minutes before we are greeted. Now, as I have stated I am a server so I noticed this fact within the first couple* minutes but my friends noticed in the following. Nevertheless we gave Tavin the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he was waiting for us to get situated (one of my friends went to the restroom) or he got double sat? No problem! He comes to our table and the interaction and greeting feel normal up until he asks for our drinks. He notes that BJs only has pepsi products to my friend when he asks for sodas. My friend asks if they have Dr Pepper zero. Perhaps a silly question but silly in the sense of stupid (dr pepper zero is not a thing) and not in the sense that we were making fun. I don't quite know why this upset Tavin so much, but his entire demeanor took a shift. I was confused more so, because I get silly questions from all sorts of tables and often have to repeat myself, but it never changes my service. I understand people come in wanting a proper restaurant experience and I answer the questions for them to be able to get that. Once he gets our drink orders he asks if we need some time on the menu. I answer “I think we need a couple minutes to look over the menu”. Now follows the experience of the entire night. Some 5-6 minutes pass and he comes by. He comes back and says something along the lines of “Just checking in are we still doing alright”. I say “yeah we just havent gotten our order taken” to hint that we have been* ready to order. Tavin replies “Thats okay I was just checking on you”.Checking on what??? We had our drinks and I had not a chance to explicitly ask for our order to be taken because he walked away so fast. Maybe he had a bad day? I dont know but I still had full intent to tip 20%. Then we proceed to wait 20+ MINUTES for him to take our order. Within these 20 minutes he greeted multiple other tables and gave them a service we received not a fraction of? Why was Tavin quick to give others an excellent service when he decided he was over* us from the beginning? I am well versed in that it is restaurant fashion to complain when you get small tables, tables full of kids etc etc. but it is ridiculous that I was able to FEEL it in this dine-in experience. I walked up to the host stand and gave her my plethora of preface and detailed the experience her. She was very helpful and kind and I appreciate any help she was able to aid in the service. I don't know how long I would have waited had I not walked up to the stand, but even after the fact I waited another 5 minutes. Mind you* by this time our drinks were overdue for refill (which he never asked about btw). He takes our order and we each get mini pizookies. Mini pizookies, tiny, take about 30 MINUTES to come out. When they come out I find that they are cold. I have been to BJs so many times and pizookies always come out hot enough that they will literally burn your hand if you grab the plate. I was able to grab the mere lukewarm plate and the cookie crust had hardened to the point that it was difficult to use my spoon for it. I was not able to express any confusion because Tavin did not check up on his table within a few bites/minutes. One of my friends even joked “wow he’s teaching us a lesson”. Maybe the kitchen messed up (?) but please please communicate with your table. It felt not an accident next to the whole night and I was genuinely in shock the entire night. We were nice and even when I went to the host stand I did not bring a manager over because I did not want him to get in trouble. We spent an 1h 1/2 there and not at our own accord, but by Tavin’s delays. Makes no sense since you want to turn tables as quickly as possible but I digress. I am running out of characters but am extremely...
Read more(Sorry in advance for the long rant) I am not one to post negative reviews, but the service this time around was so bad I had to complain. Usually when I go to BJs there is no problem and the waiters are spectacular and nice. This time there was a waiter (I forgot his name, but he had a neck tattoo, an earring, and a light colored buzz cut), that was incredibly rude. I usually bring a large party to BJ’s due to the accommodations, but we always make sure to be respectful of the people around us. The first thing that rubbed off was not smiling, which honestly I get it, it’s a long day of work and sometimes you want to be done. But he was smiling at all of the tables surrounding us. Later he was collecting our menus and stopped midway which again was fine, so we proceeded to stack all of ours together so he could pick them up easily. He was gone for a while, but instead of verbalizing that he wanted the menus, because they were center table, he stood and rolled his eyes as he was waiting to get them (again I’m still being gracious because perhaps he didn’t want to interrupt, but there was no need for the attitude). Now this is what really ticked me off, we had asked way before if it would be possible to use Apple Pay (I have always used Apple Pay there, but sometimes with WiFi it can be spotty etc.). Which he responded with a yes. We get our checks, and we then scan the qr as he instructs “to use Apple Pay.” Apple Pay was not an option on the qr and it instead had the options of PayPal or manually putting in a card. As a rule of thumb, I do not like to put my debit card into apps or on websites. After not seeing the Apple Pay, I asked the hostess if there was anyway I could be rung up and she said that my waiter would have to accompany me, so I waited until he was done getting to the other tables. After this I ask him if there was any way I could be rung up. To this he replies, no (mind you I knew he was lying because he was biting his fingers aggressively) and it wasn’t until I mentioned I had already asked the hostess that he finally mentioned that I could. But instead he sent me by myself, so I went until a nice young lady with dark hair, asked me who my waiter was and said she could get him. Had this had stopped here I would have simply let it go, but he continued and as I am getting rung up proceeds to ask me why I did not bring my debit card to dinner. I have no idea why he would even ask, but i honestly just wanted to pay in the moment so i answered him and told him i would rather use my credit card to get points (which was the truth). Then he proceeds to say then why did you pay with your debit card. MIND YOU I PAID WITH A CREDIT CARD ON APPLE PAY. I then show him that I literally used a credit card until he finally stops his rude antics. I still tipped the 18% because it was a large party and because it is a tipped job someone shouldn’t deserve to suffer, BUT IT WAS SO RUDE AND UNCALLED FOR, that I had to write at least...
Read moreI had high hopes for this place but unfortunately my experience here wasn’t as good as expected, we were seated quickly and our waitress was very nice but I assume she was having an off or something, there was a table that came in a few minutes after we were seated and the waitress set our drinks on the table next to theirs and took their order for like 5 minutes or so while our drinks were just sitting there, then comes our food, everyone at the table ordered a burger, I had the house salad instead of fries which I thoroughly enjoyed, as did my mom, the burgers took around 10-15 minutes which I think is reasonable for 4 burgers and fries, I got the Classic cheeseburger and I genuinely loved it, my brother and stepdad both ordered the Hickory Brisket and Bacon Burger, and my mom ordered the BJ's Smokehouse Burger, my stepdad was struggling to finish his due to it being so dry, he had to take sips of water in between bites, the Smokehouse Burger came with two large onion rings but the menu said onion STRINGS so I’m assuming the menu was out of date because when we asked the manager about it he informed us that they had stopped putting onion strings on the burgers, and on top of that the burger had little to no sauce on it so that combined with a dry patty made a hard to swallow burger that she was unable to finish, then we ordered desserts, hoping that they’d salvage the increasingly disappointing dining experience, it over 20 minutes to get our desserts AND I had to ask two separate waiters to check on our order and by the time we got them they had obviously been sitting out, the cookies were lukewarm and the ice cream had melted, my mom was so upset that she had no desire to eat it so she and my stepdad sent theirs back, fortunately the manager was understanding about the situation and removed the pizookies from their bill, we were SO excited to come here for a nice dinner but our experience was unbelievably bad, which is unlike our previous experiences, I wish I could recommend this restaurant but until the issues mentioned above are resolved I can’t in good faith encourage people to come here,...
