Hooked on Sushi — Restaurant in Fort Worth

This was my wife and I'm second time here and to our surprise there was no wait, thankfully.

We started off with a mixed tempura, it was hot and fresh, we enjoyed it but I think an aioli or thicker sauce would better compliment this appetizer.

Next, we decided on two rolls.

First, the 'Snowball' roll. It had cream cheese, Jalapeños, and fish (of course) but I can't remember and it was deep fried to perfection.

Next, the 'Sashimi' roll. With all the fried my wife suggested something lighter and fresh would be a nice change with the other items being fried.

This roll has no rice, it's wrapped in cucumber and filled with avocado, salmon, and tuna topped with ponzu sauce which I think they forgot.

This roll sounded better than it was and while it wasn't bad, we wouldn't get it again and we wouldn't recommend it. It felt like it was missing something, maybe cream cheese would make it better.

Our son was having a bit of a fit and we had to end dinner early so we asked for the check and didn't get a third roll like we had planned.

When the server picked up our check to cash us out he picked up and took a plate that had the last part of the roll on it that my wife was eating.

It was an honest mistake but he should've asked, imo.

The service was ok, our female server was kind of pushy and I felt rushed to order.

The male server was very friendly and even after the incident with the roll, I'd ask for him.

Overall, not a great or terrible experience .

Will definitely come back and would recommend this...

August 2024: Hair in my fiances sushi roll. Hair floating on top of food, although unforgivable, can be logical. But hair ENTWINED in sushi roll? Thats insane and feels deliberate. We used to love coming here and probably came here about 4 more times since my original review. Well, I couldnt stomach coming back no matter how good it was. The cherry on the sundae is that once we informed our server (after paying because we are not looking for free meals), the kitchen staff was standing by looking over at our table and laughing. Thank you, Hooked on Sushi but I am checking out. P.S. The server refunded us the roll with the hair in it after we said specifically we didnt say before the bill for a reason. This was truly a treat. I do not normally leave 5 star reviews but from the food right to the service and atmosphere it was truly an experience. I may not have the tastebuds of a 3 star Michelin diner but I know what tastes good! Nikki and Chris were our duo server and they kept everything flowing. Not once did I have to question when food or drinks were coming. Everything is treated with such care and cleanliness. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

The chicken is grilled and smoky, the rice is flavorful, the miso broth is strong, the sushi rolls melt in your mouth - maaan, excellent! Oh and drinks will knock your socks off. Yes, they are a bit pricier then the area price but its boozy, delicious and...

One thing is I am not a picture taker for food but, I have been trying to find a gluten free sushi place for years. I thought I'd try it but, unfortunately- I may have just ordered the wrong sushi rolls. I picked the Zombie Roll and the Blue Moon Roll. They were both extremely dry didn't have any sauces like the pictures others have taken ...(I did not want the siracha sauce on one of them, so asked for Spicy mayo.) It came in the side but barely enough for one roll anyway. (I did get extra ugh) I really hate giving mediocre reviews and the reason why I came here was all of the reviews were so awesome. I am sad that I didn't get my sushi craving filled because I couldn't even finish any of it. I might try something else way later in the year. The rolls definitely didn't look like their pictures that people had taken! Plus it had some type of mixture like chicken salad does inside the roll .. so 🤢 gross, I took it out and still couldn't eat the rolls. The front desk gal was nice cashing me out. I didn't eat in. I'm not necessarily expecting any comment from the restaurant... That said, I wouldn't be against a "better" more moist and delish roll...
