I haven't been here in over 10 years and it was my husband's first time here. The food was delicious. But the service was the worst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant. After we were seated we sat there for about 20 minutes. No one came by and brought silverware or took our order or anything. Two other families who came in after us had been seated and already had ordered their food. It wasn't busy, about 7 tables including us. And there were 4 waitresses. And they just kept walking by us. Finally someone came over to us and said " I'm not your server but I'll go ahead and get your drinks." My husband ordered orange juice and I ordered sweet tea. She brought us both teas. We told her that my husband ordered orange juice and she said she would get it. But it never came. My husband didn't want to ask her again because he was afraid someone would do something to his food or drink. I'm not sure who our server was supposed to be but I'm assuming it was the same girl that was taking care of the booth in front of us and behind us. The same girl who kept staring at me and my husband with a mean look on her face from the kitchen entrance. Neither me or my husband recognized her so we don't know why she was giving us the death stare and refusing to serve us. My husband and I both think it was either because she doesn't like black people or mixed race couples. The same lady who took our drink order ended up coming over and taking our food order as well. My order was fine, my food was good. She even brought me an extra side that I didn't order and didn't charge me for it. My husband's order was all wrong. He ordered a Belgian waffle with strawberries and an extra waffle. Scrambled eggs and sausage. They brought him 1 waffle with 2 pieces of fried chicken. No strawberries or extra waffle. And they brought him 2 sunny side up eggs with a slice of ham. My husband didn't want to cause an issue so he just ate it. My husband feels that this place is just racist, since nobody wanted to serve us, and his older from the drink to the food was completely wrong while mine was perfect. We left a tip even though I really didn't want to. We will not be dining here again. The food is good but the...
Read moreThe Initial Visit: I went to Ol' South Pancake House on a Saturday morning with a party of eight. We called in advance to make a reservation. Although they said reservations weren't permitted, the lady on the phone said if we could get there within 30 minutes she could write our name on the list, so she did. It was great because by the time we got there we waited about 10 minutes and we heard people saying they had been waiting for more than an hour. My suggestion, call before arriving to put your name on the list.
Inside: The atmosphere was ok, it was packed so it felt like we were a bit tight in our table of 8, it wasnt big enough but it was good enough. The food took very long to come but understandably, there was a very large amount if people. Unfortunately, by the time our food got to our table we were all way too hungry to even take pictures.
The Food: I ordered the chicken and waffles and I must say that it is by far one of the best I've tasted in a very long time! The chicken was nice and tender and juicy on the inside. The waffles were seasoned with a sweet flavor that just made the pair absolutely perfect and delicious.
I had a taste of others plates from my party and here's what I thought:
The steak was soft and tasty, the potatoes were seasoned and cooked to perfection.
The Dutch baby sampler was just ok for my liking as it tasted as if they weren't cooked all the way to me, but others in my party liked it.
The corned beef hash was good but I've tasted better at other locations.
The burger was cooked to perfection and I would definately order that next time. The fries were also nice and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Prices: The prices were actually decent. Not too high but not cheap either.
Verdict: I would 100% come again! Ol' South Pancake House is...
Read moreI WAS CHARGED $82.00 for mine, and my brothers $32 meal at OLD PANCAKE HOUSE ON UNIVERSITY DRIVE Sat 12/7/24. The waitress mistakenly charged my Chase card to someone else’s $82 bill. It’s been 6 days now and they still have not corrected the issue and take any accountability. I go back a 2nd time yesterday and the manager AMANDA says to deal with my Chase CC company for a refund, she cannot help me! She says she voided it and it’s my problem to deal with now.. the receipt says cash takeout and something is looking really suspect here. As in someone working there took cash out and now I cannot get my funds they stole from me. So now I’m charged 82 that was not my bill, AND the $32 bill that was actually mine! So now Ive paid $115 for two plates of eggs and bacon for the waitress mistake, and the money never was credited back to my account. Amanda is the worst type of “manager” when the establishment will not fix the mistake they created, now it falls on me to deal with it.. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS BREAKFAST SPOT. I live 2 blocks across the street on UNIVERSITY and I WILL NOT EAT SOMEPLACE THAT WILL BLATANTLY RIP ME OFF. If the owner is reading this you’re more than welcome to contact me to discuss. I did not appreciate AMANDAS rude and dismissive responses. I’m in sales mgmt myself. If I make a mistake and fumble an order for a customer in my business, I must make it right, why are you different? You screw up you correct your mistake, simple.
BASICALLY I GOT RIPPED OFF, FROM THE CARELESS RESPONSE FROM AMANDA SHE WILL RESPOND THAT WAY TO ANYONE, BEWARE! THEY WILL DO THE SAME TO YOU AND MAKE YOU DEAL WITH...
