Up front I want to say that the waitresses were AMAZING and this review in no way should reflect on them trying to make the best of this situation. This without a doubt in my mind falls squarely on back of house and management.
Summary: Kitchen sent out a sandwich that had very little meat, refused to fix, then refused to make a new plate, while being rude enough to the waitress that she was crying while apologizing, despite the fact that she did nothing wrong.
I waited a full day to post the review to give myself time to calm down and make sure I didn't write something in the heat of the moment.
I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak and my wife ordered the Gyro. I took a bite of my sandwich and surprised I got nothing but onion and pepper I opened it up to look at it. I was surprised to find almost no meat in it, but figured that mistakes happened. When the waitress came around to our table I showed her the sandwich which she immediately agreed looked light on meat and took back to the kitchen.
After a few minutes she came back and notified us that the cook said that was the correct portion amount and he would not add more meat to the sandwich (keep in mind the gyro my wife was enjoying had at least three times the amount of meat). The waitress offered to cancel that out and have me order another item at which point I attempted to order the bacon burger.
I say attempted to order the burger because again in a few minutes the waitress came out, clearly upset, and stated that the cook not only would not add meat to the sandwich, but flat out refused to make a different meal for our table. She offered to comp the table and apologized which was upsetting because she did absolutely nothing wrong.
My family finished the fries on my plate and left, making sure to tip the waitress who was so helpful and had to deal with the cook. At no point did we ask for anything to be comped, and actually would have still been happy to pay for the gyro and burger if they had been made. My wife and I were simply in shock at the rudeness of the cook, and the management not stepping in to address the issue when their waitstaff was trying to help a situation they had no...
Read moreI had the pleasure of eating here, at Georgie's Diner in Fountain Hills, just this past Saturday (2019·28·09) with family (Wayne Neissel, Lynn Woung) and a group of us being around 25 or so people, and I was pleasantly surprised. It looks small from the outside but it is actually big enough to fit a really nice size crowd without losing that feeling of a close family atmosphere. We were greeted with nothing but smiles, and the service was excellent. Now the food ... our group had opted for what we call "finger food", wraps sliced perfectly and filled with delicious meats and cheeses, topped off with fresh cut lettuce and tomato - all condiments colorfully laid out - club sandwiches so huge that them being quartered still was hard to wrap your mouth around it! Then the wings, breaded veggie trays fried to perfection and all piping hot, and much more. And finally the desserts ... HUGE pie slices of all different types, cakes, and more, with extra fruit fillings to 'add a little on top' of your desserts as well; I don't know WHO did the choosing but the array of sweets that were laid out would satisfy anyone with a sweet tooth. The one I am partial to was the Cheesecake. I am from Brooklyn, New York and Georgie's would have felt right at home in just about any Brooklyn Pastry Shop or Bakery! And their drinks are very modestly priced. The best part is their prices that shame a number of other places that charge nearly twice as much. Yet Georgie's has equal, if not better, quality! Kudos to this family's culinary skills, and down to earth way they treat their customers! They were very attentive to each person who walked through their doors. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice, inexpensive place with great food, and a pleasant,...
Read moreNice little restaurant on the Avenue of the Fountains. We have eaten here twice and the first experience was ok. Good enough to give it a second try. The second visit was terrible and we will not be dining here again. The server was pretty much useless as we only saw her 3 times total during our entire meal. Once to take our order, once to drop off our food, and once to drop off our check. We had to ask whoever we could flag down for coffee and water refills and never did get any cream or sugar for the coffee. Half of the food didn't taste bad, but the preparation and presentation were all over the map. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and was very disappointed. One of the eggs was very overcooked think hard boiled while the other was super runny and undercooked to the point of still being cold and the white still clear think half raw. The hollandaise sauce was very sour like it was a few days past its expiration date. I love food and I love to eat so it's rare that I don't finish a plate even if I don't care for it. I left this on the plate with only 2 bites taken out of it. Our server couldn't be bothered to even notice that I left an entire uneaten plate of food in front of me before tossing the check on the table. My wife ordered a mimosa that never showed up and the French toast and other than being cold from sitting before being brought out it was fine. All in all, one ok experience and one really bad experience= I will spend my money elsewhere. Really no excuses for service this poor and food that's not been properly prepared when you are charging...
