Black Angus Steakhouse — Restaurant in Fountain Valley

NOT PLEASED ONE BIT....Don’t even eat here!!!! The one star should be zero stars!

My family and I decided have a nice family dinner at Black Angus to celebrate a special occasion. When we dined at this establishment, we had previously received a special coupon for a Steak and Lobster Dinner for $19.99. It seemed to good to be true, so we asked our server if indeed the Steak and Lobster dinner was really $19.99. She then went on to inform us, that is was and we can have any choice of steak. Again we asked, “for 19.99?” She replied, “Yes.” You can imagine our shock when we received our check! Not only was the discount not applied but our server then informed us that the lobster was free but the steak prices stayed the same. Which she did not explain to us after asking four times. Need less to say, the sever didn’t even honor the discount nor was this even brought to a managers attention to provide some level of customer service. And the server kept implying that “we read the coupon incorrectly” even though we asked her for to explain the coupon properly, because it seemed to good of deal on paper. We even signed up for the special promotions that Black Angus had to offer because we thought that the discount was such a good deal but now regret to have signed up for such a horrendous scam.

I work in management and I am involved in the customer service industry and I take care of customers every single day! If we have a special promotion, we make sure we explain the promotion in detail in what it entails and how to obtain the promotion. I would never, nor will allow such poor advertising or deceit in the customer service industry that I experienced with my family this evening.

Overall, very extremely disappointed and will not return to this establishment ever! And I promise to spread the word regarding the poor marketing advertisement and lack of good quality customer service....

I didn't expect a good atmosphere but was pleasantly surprised. I came on a late Friday night, put our name down and there were 2 large groups ahead of us. The people at the front desk discovered there were available tables for our small group of 3 and I heard them discuss that we were only there for 2 minutes and didn't want to seat us. Instead, they waited until the 2 large groups of 8+ people were seated until we were seated. This was about half an hour. Then when we were seated, a server came to take our order in a good amount of time. However, after we got our appetizers, the our main course took nearly 30 mins to come out. They really like to make you wait unnecessarily here. And the server walked by us several times without giving us any eye contact but spending a lot of time with the other customers to talk to them and not caring about our food taking a long time or even refilling our water. So when the food did come out, the ribs were super dry, these must have been cooked then frozen or boiled. Never had ribs so dry. And then my prime rib was supposed to be medium rare but it came out really well done on the outside and medium rare at the very center 1". It was super dry as well. I haven't eaten at Black Angus in over a decade and it's good to know I wasn't missing out on anything. Super mediocre food from the soups, to the bread to the mains. And these people that work here who could have seated us 30 minutes earlier but decided it wasn't a good idea and I overheard their conversation about why we shouldn't have been seated even though we had a small group and the large groups should have waited, well sorry I'm out of breath here and this was a total fail of a night out. I didn't realize that I've never click post for my last review. This one is so good I decided to just post it now because Jacquie was excellent at resolving my issue. This was for year 2021.

Got the food for take out. It's best to eat in your car than wait for the drive home for best quality which is what we did and what we've seen a lot of people also do in their cars in the parking lot. They still have same open hours and coupon deals. It's best to sign up for the emails because they send you coupons or let you know about new specials deals they are having. My family ordered their usual order online to make it easier and ready for when we arrived. I got the new York steak well done while my parents got the fish. I forgot what my bro got. We used that special combo deal for two that comes with a sampler platter and dessert which (limits one order per pickup). Then just ordered the rest of the two with a different coupon. You can look the coupon up online if you are in a rush to use one. I love this place and would come here again.

Note: I bought $200 worth of gift card by pressing google link to their individual store and they failed to send me $40 worth to my email as promised for their deal (buy $50 get $10 back). The is my only reason for a lower rating.

Edit: Late update 8/31/21: I've changed my rating from 3 stars to 5 stars because customer relations Jacquie made serious efforts to correct the mistake cashstar made by sending me the $40 gift card to my house. She made consistent attempts to reach me both through email and phone calls which was great. She made dealing with the issue much easier because I didn't feel like I had to chase her down because she was chasing me down to solve the...
