I was very exited about this place because we don’t have many businesses like it here in Fox Lake. Starting with appearance, the outside is gorgeous and reminds me of something that should be on the east coast. The view of the lake gives the place a serene feeling that’s hard to come by seeing as most other places on the lake here are bars. The inside, however, felt sparse and uncoordinated. There are many wall decorations, but they don’t work together well and they fail to create the quaint coffee shop ambiance I believe the owners were going for. Not to mention, as you walk up to the counter, one of the menu boards is perpendicular to the front wall making it impossible to read, even though there’s a large space next to the regular board to put it. overall though, the owner needs to pick a vibe he wants for the interior and stick with it. Next up is coffee. When I was there I ordered a hazelnut latte with half pumps of hazelnut, and my mother who came with me ordered a decaf coffee. They did offer a selection of delicious looking pastries, but neither of us were in the mood for one. My drink was very foamy (which I loved), and not too sweet. The flavors worked well together and it was generally better than anything else you can get in town currently. My mother however didn’t have the same positive experience. Her decaf was watery and lacked any flavor, but the servers were very helpful and helped correct that by giving her a refund and an iced tea (the iced tea was incredible by the way, had many floral notes that I quite enjoyed.). Speaking of service, all of the staff (including the owner) were kind and helpful. It felt like they truly cared about our experience, which lately has become rarer and rarer.
Overall: The Coffee Shop is a great place with amazing service, a beautiful outside ambiance, and overall good drinks- however don’t get...
Read moreLiterally the most quaint shop I've ever been in. Nothing within the city of Chicago could compare. Service was so excellent and the barista was so kind. The flavors they had were so ample, the coffee itself fresh, and the pastries were really good. The dirty banana was so good as it was simple. Strawberry shortcake was also amazing, A friend who was with me had a shot of coconut in there which gave it a nice flavor after the strawberry. The interior felt so cozy and quaint. They even have private booths inside so you can work in peace if need be, however they could add a curtain on there as well. I did find it strange only one person was working here and it makes me worry when it gets busy but hopefully they get another staffer here for when it does.
Their blended oreo had the perfect amount of chocolate and cookie and the lavender noir tasted so refreshing and earthy (it's a good thing).
Overall this place is a must have spot to visit if you're up here, no matter the season. Would personally come up here every...
Read moreI know these reviews mean a ton to small bus. so I am only writing for owner awareness. Adorable lake side coffee shop vibe from outside to in and coffee, though a bit pricey, tasted like a vacation coffee would. The one star rating is because when I walked into this tiny shop no one said a word to me. The girl behind the counter was making food and drinks for a family of 4 so I get that she was busy with that, but she had already taken their order/ money and they were just hanging out waiting. A small town type of shop is one you expect to be greeted at with a friendly glad you stopped by vibe, but there was nothing. I stood there waiting almost 10 minutes while she filled their order without a single acknowledgement, not a "be with you in a minute" or anything. Most would have walked right out of there after a few minutes, but I really wanted to support local and decided to leave this review instead of walking out. For reference, it was Tursday 7/10/25...
