I had a party at my place a few nights ago. We placed a large order at Charley's - well over 100 dollars. I paid over the phone with a pre-paid Visa gift card. The lady on the phone said I had to show the delivery guy my driver's license and the credit card I used to pay. Ok, fine. When the guy showed up, I showed him both cards, as I had agreed to over the phone. At that moment, and I'm not making this up, he actually tried to WRITE DOWN MY DRIVER'S LICENSE NUMBER. I'm not kidding. I quickly snatched my license back and asked him what he was doing. He said that his boss told him he had to write down my driver's license number. No one has ever tried to do this before when I paid with a gift card. When I asked him why, he said he didn't know; he was just following orders. He told me to call his boss and ask her myself. I did. It was the same lady who had taken my order. She began screaming at me over the phone and saying that I told her it was okay when I ordered. I corrected her that I had agreed to show the delivery man my driver's license and gift card to prove my identity, but I had never verbally consented to actually giving him my driver's license number. She began screaming at me some more, so I hung up on her. I took my food, gave the delivery man his tip, since I don't hold him responsible for just doing what he was told, and that was the end of it. This is the worst I have ever been treated by a delivery restaurant. I will never order from them again. These people may have been attempting identity theft on me. I would strongly advise against buying...
Read moreI will NEVER EVER order from this restaurant again!!! I just got off the phone with someone who started shouting at me when I politely asked when my food would arrive. I had clearly heard her say it would take 25 minutes when I initially placed the order, so I thought I was being reasonable when I called 55 minutes later and politely mentioned the 25 minutes. I was wondering before I placed the call that they might have thought I had asked for take out. At this point I really was being polite but when she started yelling at me that she would never say that and that it would obviously take 45 minutes to an hour, not 25 minutes, and kept yelling at me, I went through the roof and yelled back at her that she couldn't treat customers that way, that I was canceling the order, and that I would never order from them again. I've never had a restaurant employee start yelling at me like that, either in person or over the phone. She called me back to tell me the driver was only 3 minutes away and then started yelling at me again when I repeated I no longer wanted the order. I don't care how good their food might be, no one deserves to be treated that way, especially when you're a customer and not the one who started the yelling. My wife could hear her 25' away even with the phone at my ear. If I could give Charley's Restaurant in Frederick MD minus 5...
Read moreI placed an order on Grubhub (which can't be tracked because Charley's uses their own drivers) and didn't call to check until it was 40 minutes late (my wife told me to be patient). I spoke to who I can only assume was the unpleasant woman mentioned in several other reviews. I explained I had ordered an hour and a half before and not received my food. She said since it was Grubhub she had to look into it and would call me back in 2 minutes. Long story short, 20 minutes later after several phone calls and a contact with Grubhub customer support and a refund (and still no food nearly 2 hours after the food was ordered) the unpleasant woman was on my phone yelling about the cancelation and telling me the food was on the way and she had been too busy to call me about my food and I had to give the driver my debit card info (not gonna happen). I just hung up and when the driver finally showed up I sent him and the food back.
We were just fine spending $250+ a month ordering food here. But when the manager informs customers (by yelling) the restuarant is too busy to get in touch about a missing $90 delivery they must be making money hand over fist and won't miss our business. The food here is just fine but it's not "wait two hours good". Also don't come at me like that when you mess up. I'm not the first or last person to be...
