Few days ago, i wanted to have good ramen to remind my old good years when i lived in bangkok, i lived in japanese area where i was lucky to eat authentic food, u dont serve anything else than authenthic to japanese people who lived in this area.

Quick review, details follow below

the pro : effort in japanese decor, feel in a smart japanese restaurant where u go when u want to be seen nice design of dishes use to serve food service ok

The cons : The food !!!

in detail what i didnt like:

The ramen broth was tasteless... Wich is to me the MOST important thing in a ramen restaurant. I ordered tonkotsu ramen as it supposed to be fat, creamy and tasty. At first sight i already saw the broth was not thick enough and unfortunately tasteless. other fail the egg : it supposed to be marinated in marinade full of 'Umami' and cooked to be egg with runny yolk. What i got was undercooked ( white still liquid) and tasteless.

Chicken karaage i got , was served in nice dishes, look like chicken nuggets from Chain food. No crispy and also tasteless. Takoyaki octopus : swimming in their sauce with so poor amount of octopus, one of the four even didnt had any pieces. Far away to even street food vendor takoyaki...

egg noodles in my ramen were not fresh homemade noodles ...

i will not recomment this restaurant.... Dont bring japanese people to...

We have been here over a dozen times and Tsunami can do no wrong in my book. We have ordered all of the ramen, appetizers, drinks and a few desserts. Not a single thing has been less than great, with most of it being absolutely amazing. The bulgogi tacos and tantanmen ramen are my top two picks of all time. The tacos are simply incredible- a delicious fusion of chashu bun and bulgogi and fresh toppings. The tantanmen is SO flavorful but insanely spicy and they are able to remove the additional topping of chili oil which makes it better for me.

The Osaka salad is great. The chashu tacos are fantastic. The toppings are generous and I never find myself wishing there was more bok choy or mushroom or egg.

The drinks and dessert are flawless and I especially love the Kill Bill, Tsunami Mami, Orange Crush and the Lychee Lady. They're super drinkable and delicious with the entire menu.

We've tried a couple of desserts and there was a sort of mango cheesecake that was incredible. At this point, I'll order anything they recommend or is a special of the day. Tsunami is perfection, I don't think I've ever experienced such a high success rate in a restaurant. When friends or family are in town, we go to Tsunami. When I want to celebrate a work-win, we go to Tsunami. When it's cold and we want a lunch date, we go...

The Dumplings Were BLUE!!!

I went here with my boyfriend and as soon as our sides and appetizers came, we knew this would be staple of our future Fredrick dates! I ordered kimchi $4 (AMAZING and just fishy enough to be shocking) and egg noodles $4 as my side and had that together (highly recommend, great simple flavor combo). We shared an appetizer which was a special called the Tsunami Dumpling $8 which were BLUE! I can't explain to you how cool that is! Unexpected innovation pairs well with shrimp and green onions (the components of the dumplings). My bf had the Tsunami Rice Bowl I think and he loved it, scarfed it down in 5 minutes, a big portion too. He said the rice was delicious and the pork was perfectly cooked. I had the Tsunami Ramen and it was the best bowl I have ever encountered. The seaweeds and mushrooms complimented each other and there was this woody veggie that I don't know the name of which added this wonderful sweetness. The pork was perfectly done and fall-apart tender.

In a few words, Tsunami is delectable, fun, atmospheric, and an instant hit! A must-visit for all of Western MD. Thanks to our wonderful waitress who gave us quick and...

Craving ramen, Yelp directed me to Tsunami close to our Airbnb in downtown Frederick. Top-rated, I went in hopeful. Walking in around noon for lunch on an April Friday, I got a seat at the bar easily. Staff were friendly, attentive, and my food came out quickly (as did the check). Great service! Enjoying ramen around the world in my travels, I was disappointed in my ramen. The red curry ramen comes with pork, but the egg wasn't properly cooked for ramen. (The yolk was overcooked and hard.) The flavors also didn't pop. Everything was muted. The wontons on top add a little crunch, but eat it right away before they get soggy. The milk tea boba came with some syrup inside that took away from the milk tea flavor. It was way too sweet. (I have sweet tooth so if I found it too sweet, it's really too sweet.) It's possible I ordered wrong so I'd love to give it a second chance when I return to Frederick. Also, the staff were excellent and the space is beautiful, decorated with murals everywhere.
