The day started out quite pleasant. We took my daughter out for her birthday celebration. We took her to see the Avengers movie and then to dinner. The movie was great (crowded though), and after the movie decided to go to a recently opened Asian restaurant called the Wok In Wok Out in Frederick Maryland, near Home Goods. We walked in and look at the menu and noticed the allergy warning - "*Menu items may contain or come in contact with WHEAT, EGGS, NUTS, SEAFOOD and DAIRY". So before we ordered we asked about the cooking oil they used and if their sauces contained nuts, but sadly the hostess didn't know (warning sign one). She went and asked and came back and informed us that the sauces had no nuts and that they used soy oil, so we told her that my daughter had allergies and we had to be careful on what we order. She said ok and we ordered our meals, but when the food finally came I noticed that there was some seeds on my daughters order so I asked what they were. The waitress (hostess) said they were not nuts – I said ok, but that's not the question, so I asked again what where the seeds on my daughter's food, and once again she said they are not nuts. At this time my wife said my daughter is also allergic to sesame seeds, to which the waitress said well she didn't tell me that and proceeded to walk away. So I said "wait my daughter cannot eat this she is allergic to sesame seeds" and the hostess said "well she didn't tell me that". Know I have got to be honest that upset me, so I said well I am telling you - "my daughter is allergic and can't eat this and your menu doesn't say anything about sesame seeds". The hosted then said "well the customer is not always right". I said okay since I am wrong just give me my money back and I will go to a restaurant that has customer service. That when the manager came out and asked what was going on, so I told him and then requested my money back. He looked at me and said we have overhead and food cost and he would not give me my money back. I explained that we had not eaten anything and that I only want my money back so I could leave; again he said no - so called the police. The police came out and spoke with the manager at which time the story changed and the manager told the police officer he would refund one meal (oh, by the way, I hated wasting the police's time over something so trivial). I couldn't believe it - that was truly the worst experience I have had at any restaurant to date. I never had a hostess argue with me and a manager refuse to refund a bad untouched order. Oh well lesson learned - I will never go there again, and if you do decide to go I want you to think about the quote from the hostess "Customers are NOT right" - I am not making this up folks.

I have been going here for a while. The food is always a delight, and the spice level is always what I ask for. However, unfortunately, I don't think I can justify eating here anymore. The attached photo was my chicken fried rice with no drink or extras (besides $0.28 for level 3 spice). My fried rice came out to $18.50 after tax. I can go to a full sitdown restaurant and get much better value for my money on a much greater selection of food. There is no justification to charge as much as they do here for a box of spicy rice and chicken. Which is a shame, because the location is very convenient, the staff are friendly, and it is really quite tasty. I doubt I'm the only one with this criticism. The restaurant has been seeing much less patronage since the price hikes, that place used to be full all the time and now the tables are empty

I only tried an appetizer, I really just wanted bubble tea. The egg rolls were good. I'll visit again and try the entrees. For bubble tea, I got the yuzu Arnold Palmer and a create your own green tea mango. Both were decent bubble teas. The yuzu palmer was more on the lemony side than tea, but I kinda liked it. *** I went back and tried the wokaholic with chicken and shrimp. It was delicious not too sweet or too spicy. I also tried the wok dumplings also decent, nothing special though. They didn't have regular tapioca bubbles so I tried the Crystal Boba. They were okay. If you don't like the mushy texture of regular bubbles I suggest you try them.

I am Mrs.Chong Won Kwak and today is 5/29/2020. I moved to the Frederick County Maryland area the previous month with my family, except my youngest Korean son, Samuel Tae Soo Kwak who is 16 years old and has to stay with his paternal grandparents Bowie, Maryland house temporarily until people allow back to us and his own home and youth life. The Wok in and Wok out Asian restaurant near our home is very good Asian food of different Asian ethnicity with a Modern and American style. The cooks and the man who started that restaurant is very skilled and talented cook. Their service is prompt and the restaurant is of casual style for people to have good and delicious food that is not just the typical Asian restaurant. Thanks for the prompt and delicious food when we go pick up the food in the Route 26 Frederick, Maryland location either by my oldest son or myself. We hope that their service and good food does not stop. But the service in this restaurant has changed to bad with putting our food in small bags and tying a taut knot because the small bag is too small for the amount of food they put in it. And they smash the food in the small bag making the food containers smashed in the bottom of the bag. And some of the food has not been hit and freshly cooked when I pick it up promptly. I live close enough distance that by the time I would drive to that restaurant, it would be ready. I requested to put our food in a large/bigger size bag hand they replied that they would but they put our food in a smaller size bag which is opposite of what I requested. But they should know to put anything in the appropriate size bag that does not smash the contents and/or make the contents fall out. The service was declining after non oriental people keep bothering...

The bubble tea here is the best in Frederick! Ive tried maybe 5 other places that serve bubble tea and this is by far the best. I even drive 30min just to get the taro milk tea and the flavored jasmine teas with popping bubbles. The only downside is they constantly run out of bubbles. The food is really good and flavorful, but.....they are not consistent. The pork and steak are the best proteins, very flavorful. They always forget something in my order (has happened 3 times, ranging from a side of yum yum sauce to taro fries), so definitely double check. P.s. definitely say mild or no spice if you don't like spicy, their spice level is high. Twice they messed up my order by adding too much spice to the point where I couldnt even eat it..I had to throw it away ( and I had them repeat my order to make sure they got the right spice level). But when I try to call them about the order they never answer the phone. Give this place a shot, it's a gamble on what you get, but can be worth it if it turns out delicious . Went back multiple times and the bubble tea is still amazing,...
