Abner B's Ice Cream — Restaurant in Fredericksburg

It was a lovely labor day and what better way than to end a good walk downtown other than with some ice cream.

My sister ordered a reg. vanilla milkshake, I ordered a large chocolate malted milkshake, and my son got a small vanilla cone.

It was a very busy day for them and I do love their customer service. They have a great team and wonderful personalities! That's why I could not give below 3 stars. BUT the milkshakes tasted like creamy milk. My sister nor myself could taste the flavor of the ice cream and mine was not malted nor was it a large. I tasted my son's ice cream cone and there was not enough of a vanilla flavor in the actual ice cream.

My son was given his ice cream cone for free due to the milkshake error so that was great. We, on the other hand, still ended up tossing our shakes out.

Great ice cream, horrible staff & experience. Not worth it, Goolrick’s is half a block away and 10x better. They let my wife and 3-year-old son try samples, but refused to give me one as they were clearly angered that we ordered two milkshakes, which takes time and a line formed while they were making them. But, it’s not okay to berate your customers for trying to understand why you’re refusing to serve them, especially when they have children present. If it’s busy, learn how to deal with lines on a Sunday and don’t yell at and woman and her little boy who couldn’t understand why his dad couldn’t try some too. They should be ashamed of how they let their staff behave and I’ll never take my family here again. This is why blue cow is much more popular. The entire staff was nasty, hostile, and did not create a welcoming environment. They made me feel like they were doing me a favor. The costumer service was absolutely horrible not just to my party but to other unlucky patrons that I observed. I asked for coffee ice cream then changed my mind. Then waitress serving me stopped and stated “I didn’t know we even had that flavor” and proceeded to grab herself a scoop before helping my girlfriend. After getting my shake I got a couple of sips in and found nuts in it. I ordered a flavor with no nuts would hate to have had an allergy. This place was not inviting or clean from what I witnessed.
