I'll leave the same review for both locations since they are both EXCELLENT! One is on Caroline Street right downtown and the second is on William St (right across from Freddy Donuts which is also awesomeness!)
Both spots are little hole-in-the-wall restaurants which are generally my favorite. They both have indoor seating, seasonal outdoor seating, and a full bar.
ANY spot that serves Mexican fare has to start with chips and salsa on the table and they do! Solid salsa too!
Now the soup: Tried the tortilla soup. DELICIOUS!
The Tacos: You get TWO per order. I messed up the first visit and got WAY too many. They have a choice of flour or corn tortillas. I have not tried the corn option but the flour is big enough that two tacos will FILL you up!
The Rice and Beans: I need to figure out how to make pinto beans the way they do. They serve a lot of their platters with a side of rice and beans. These are not smashed beans, these are delicious, homemade pintos. The beans and rice are seasoned perfectly and come out HOT!
The Burritos: Seasoning is great! Like on POINT! Not the most gargantuan I have ever had but they are PACKED with fresh ingredients and the flavor is fantastic.
The servers are attentive as well.
We will be...
Read moreI was looking forward to trying this place after hearing good things from a few friends. I was very disappointed from the start. The waitress seemed rude and midly aggressive. The food wasn't my cup of tea either. I wasnt a fan of the queso dip or my carnitas burrito. The burrito was small the rice and beans were very bland too. When the waitress came by to see how everything was, she noticed I had hardly touched it and asked if everything was okay. I told her very politely while being appologetic that I did not care for my meal. She then started questioning me and almost interrogating me about why I didnt like my burrito, claiming that its her favorite and is confused to as to why I didnt care for it. She said "no tell me what was wrong so I can let the cook know". She did take my food off the bill, which is good. just felt kind of attacked and I did not appreciate that. Needless to say, I will...
Read moreA great local spot in Downtown Fredericksburg serving hot, fresh Mexican and Latin American food. We've been several times and then we ask why we waited so long in between visits.
We started with the Tamales de Elote which is this absolutely delicious hot corn mashed in a tamale served with cream sauce. It's salty, sweet, hot and perfect. Today was Pupusa Day and I tried three of them, cheese, cheese and refried beans and spinach and cheese. All were super filling and served with slaw and sauce on the side. They have a lot of great vegetarian options here.
My boyfriend had steak tacos and a chicken taco, all looked very fresh and stacked with lettuce and pico.
We were both filled to the gills and for under $35 for both of us, including tip, felt like...
