Read moreOKAY. So here's a super sad story: The first time my husband and I went back in February, he ordered a soba noodle bowl and I ordered the hibachi chicken bowl (typical dish but I like to play it safe when trying new places haha), and it was great! I gave it a 4/5!
Here's where it gets bitter: I brought my grandma to try out this place in March and I knew exactly what I was ordering on this next vidit: SOBA NOODLES! I go up to order and the gentleman stated that they do not serve soba noodles. I was racing through the menu desperately trying to find the Japanese Buckwheat noodles that I saw in their menu during my first trip. Finally I asked, "You don't sell the soba anymore?" And of course he repeated that they don't. I was highly saddened as traditional Japanese soup bowls contain this great noodle with an easy broth made from soaking a special kind of seaweed.
Anyways, grandma and I just settled for the rice bowl. It came with rice, chicken, cilantro, lettuce (ice burg), and tomato's. It was a super common and technically not traditional Japanese dish but I made a point to try something new each visit. Not only did we wait quite a while for our very simple food, maybe about 20-30 minutes, but once we finally recevied it, it was COLD.
My food was far from impressive or creative. It was regular yellow rice, with iceburg lettuce and a ton of cilantro as if I was at a Mexican restaurant. So that's it, another disappointing trip of a new promising restaurant right down the gutter. Unfortunately, I guess that's just Fredericksburg because the experience of "good only the first time" happened with BJ's brewhouse too....
Read moreI used to go here very regularly and would have given this place 5 stars, always had pleasant in person interactions with the staff, clean restaurant, nice decor.
Except for the last time I went here last fall or winter I ordered double meat, sliced beef and shredded brisket in my pho and it was served too cold and I didn't realize this until I had added sprouts and lime it was very much luke-warm. I brought it to the front having consumed not but one spoonful and asked for it to please be warmed up a bit. This seemed to take the nice waitress by suprise but she hurriedly said yes, sure, as i carefully passed it to her as not to spill (full to the brim but cold). Instead of simply warming that bowl as I requested, they made me a brand new one instead for some reason which I realized as it took extra long to come back and the broth was clear again, it was a new bowl. I told the waitress that wasn't necessary she said it's okay don't worry about it. The pho was hot enough the second go around and I left satiated but feeling awkward about the interaction..
I noticed on my bank statement the next day that the total charged was edited after my having signed for it at the front of the store with the total reflecting as if id purchased a second bowl when I didnt ask for that at all. Approximately $40 tip included for 1 bowl of pho and an ice tea. Sadly I haven't...
