Riverside Family Restaurant 7 — Restaurant in Freeport

Slooowwww! Stopped for a late breakfast after church. Plenty of open tables when we arrived, but it took several minutes for someone to seat us. Table was still wet from cleaning and a bit sticky. Took probably 5 minutes before waitress came to our table. We placed drink and breakfast order as soon as waitress showed up. Another couple minutes to get our drinks and a few more minutes before we got ice water. The meals, which were not complicated, took 10 - 15 minutes. Food was pretty much what you would expect. Nothing to write home about, but good. Didn't get silverware. Had to ask. First drink refill was not prompt, neither was second refill. No bill given. Finally h ad to ask for it. I can understand some of the delays, because they were fairly busy. But they should have had someone filling drink orders and making sure tables were cleaned and dry and that customers had silverware. When I went to the cash register without a bill, I felt as if she was blaming me for not having it and not knowing who my waitress was. And again I felt like she expected me to run down the waitress for my bill. We will give them another chance. If not better at that time, we'll be done. We returned for breakfast today. This was the second chance. Waitress was not friendly. She barely spoke to us. Never returned to table after we received our food to see if we needed anything. I would rate the service a 1 or 2. Management can train better! Food was below average and barely warm. Poor quality ingredients or untrained staff? The barely warm can be blamed on the waitress or the kitchen staff or the management. Call it out for delivery as soon as it is done, pick it up immediately and deliver, if the waitress is busy then have someone to help. Not too difficult to figure out. We...

The Riverside 7 restaurant opened many months ago. As excited as I was to have a new place in Freeport that might have a decent breakfast, we decided to wait until they have had a chance to work out all of the details. When we arrived, there were a lot of patrons, however we were sat in a timely manner.

This location has housed multiple restaurants since we moved to Freeport, however what it was originally I don't know, but it looks like an old Perkins. That is the type of atmosphere it has. The staff was friendly and attentive. As a bonus they make and sell their own pies that you can take home too!

I ordered the Chicken fried steak and eggs. I specifically ordered the eggs over easy, and the hashbrowns crispy. They were delivered exactly how I ordered them. The steak had a good flavor, and the breading was well seasoned. The gravy was lacking. It tasted like flour. There was sausage in it, but not enough that you could taste it. It was the right consistency, but it lacked in flavor. The hashbrowns were good. They did not taste like boiled potatoes. They had some seasoning, and a decent flavor. The eggs were cooked to perfection. With all of that being said, this is the best Chicken/Country fried steak and eggs in Freeport that I've had to date.

My lady ordered the Gyro and Feta omelet. Also, with hashbrown ordered extra crispy. She was pleased with the flavor of the omelet saying it was delicious. To verify her assessment, she offered me a taste of it. I must concur; the omelet was cooked perfectly and had a great taste.

Overall, we both are pleased with Riverside 7 restaurant. It is by far one of the better places to get breakfast...

Fish was excellent but we were served our drinks and salads with no silverware waitress disappeared. Finally after 5 mins I got some from the next table. Waitress came back asked how was our food. I was there to celebrate and my birthday was the next day. The place was almost empty with only one table and one other table of guests. We finished eating and didn’t see our waitress again until 15 mins later as we wait to ask for a carryout container. My friend who is 84yrs old brought me out for my birthday. She went and complained, so I was asked “oh, you were celebrating your birthday, I replied I’m sorry you had this experience I will get you some birthday cake”. I asked if I could have it to go since we were now at the register paying. They took the cake out came back with a slice for me in a carryout container. Before the waitress handed to me she asked is your birthday today? I said no it’s tomorrow I told the waitress already.
