I wasn't sure if I was seeing things at first. I'd often come to this location craving the sweet desserts and savoury foods. While it would normally be a relaxing experience I've started noticing something odd about one of the employees at this location. The drink I always get started tasting off, at first I dismissed it as just my tastebuds, the next, finding empathy with the staff as we all make mistakes here and there... But it started becoming so often that I felt that I had to express it here to warn others. Large amounts of ice in my iced coffee (I know, usually typical at times but I kid you not these were alarming amounts..), bitter taste as the drink was not fully mixed well, and at times it would be completely wrong and a different drink entirely!!! Usually I'd be in such a rush that I only taste my drink once in the comfort of my car, house, outing with friends... So I do admit for not speaking up about it, but I genuinely wasn't sure if it was just me because not only is it completely weird, it's incredibly rude! I am a normal human being, I also work in the food industry, I relish in making people's days when they are coming off work, coming from church, celebrating, etc. It made me feel incredibly dissatisfied and I often turn away instead of finding comfort here like I used to. I do hope that Paris Baguette does better in educating and training their employees as I'm sure this does not fit with their motto. Safe to say I'm...
Read moreThis place was filthy when I went in on a Friday afternoon and had absolutely horrible service.
The girl at the teller, named Sie**a, helped the only people in line in front of me and then ignored me completely for about a minute or two while she put a pastry in the oven. Then she went to the back to talk to her co-worker instead of helping me.
I asked shouted around the corner if they had stopped helping customers or what was going on because nobody had even acknowledged me after being in the store for a few minutes.
Sie**a then came back with a very poor attitude and said she didn't see me. I said that doesn't make sense because I was standing right in front of her the whole time. Then she said she was baking a pastry so she wouldn't help me until it was finished. So that was the real truth. They have workers who think if a pastry is ordered, they can completely ignore the line until it is finished.
2 workers and if 1 pastry is ordered, it means you should not expect to get helped for about 5 minutes until the pastry is done, even if you're the only one in line and there are no to-go's waiting.
Odd policy, and not fun to deal with their hostile attitudes as a customer.
Update: The kicker is that I only wanted to buy a gift card for a friend, and Sie**a said they don't sell gift cards. I go to their website, and sure enough, they sell...
Read moreI got a tuna sandwich and iced vanilla matcha. The tuna sandwich was too fishy and so packed that you couldn’t taste the vegetables that were also in the sandwich. Worse though, my matcha was not great. When I ordered I said “medium iced matcha with vanilla” and the cashier asked me “what size?” “What did you want added?” “You wanted it iced?” At other cafes when I get a matcha I’ll get vanilla added to it and/or coconut milk and it’s great. My own matchas I’ll do the same. The matcha at Paris Baguette was grainy—like drinking sand— and didn’t taste right. I’m able to make a better matcha at home. I didn’t want to finish the drink so I went up to the counter to give quick feedback and pay for another drink. It would’ve been ideal for them to swap the drink out at no additional charge, but I didn’t expect it and brought my wallet up with me. The cashier, same as before, pulled the manager or owner in who told me “it’s not like Starbucks, it’s pure matcha it’s supposed to taste earthy”. I was a little insulted with the assumption she made, and tried to explain that that it didn’t taste earthy, it was just very grainy. Even the purest matcha when made correctly shouldn’t be grainy. Regardless, they didn’t have black tea to replace my drink with so they gave me a refund. I see why they’re only 4 stars, but they...
