I recently visited Modernist Craft Cocktail Bar in Fresno, and I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed. The dim lighting and artistic design of the space really created a relaxed, chill atmosphere that set the perfect tone for a night out. I loved how they crafted such an immersive experience for their customers. The drinks were absolutely delicious and incredibly creative. The cocktail list was extensive, and I was thrilled to discover they have additional menus based on the type of spirit you prefer. As a rum lover, I couldn’t believe how many unique rum cocktails they offered! I’m already excited to go back and try more. The only downside—if you can call it that—was the noise level. There was a larger group in the back of the bar, and the space is pretty small, so it got unexpectedly loud. The lively chatter didn't quite match the vibe, which seemed to be more about enjoying a calm, in-depth conversation over a craft cocktail. My group of three had to yell to hear each other, even though we were sitting right next to one another. It made it a bit uncomfortable, and we ended up not talking much because it was hard to hear over the noise. Despite that, I still can’t wait to return and hopefully experience a quieter atmosphere next time!

First impression when arriving was the place small and seems like low capacity, but the space is well decorated and inviting. When you actually get inside you see that it is a little bigger with the lounge in the rear. When entering you’re Acknowledged and greeted, I went on a Wednesday so it wasn’t busy. Ryan immediately explain the menu in detail and made some suggestions. I had the “cloak and dagger” and a Margarita, both were delicious and Ryan assured me if I didn’t like it then he could whip something else up for me. I enjoyed both of them. The size of the drinks were on the smaller side of considering they start around $10, but definitely worth the experience! The ambience is great! And the lounge is chill I can see why the place reaches capacity so quick. The bathroom situation is a little percular, but accommodating Anyways I think it’s a cool place to have a cocktail or two.... If you want to drink beer maybe consider going to Full circle Brewery... All in all go check it out and support local business, especially one that increase the value of our city *Edit* 2 years later and I have change my rating to a 5 star. Time seemed to be all this upscale cocktail bar needed to grow its menu and adapt. Good job and I recommend it.

Weekend nights draw a diverse crowd and there can be a line to get in, but chatting with security guard Andrea is fun to start, and the bar experience is worth the wait past those doors! Very friendly and attentive staff members (Fabby was great!) and owners who were so welcoming. Wide range of delicious drinks, my favorite was Johnny Appleseed and their mezcal margarita (off-menu, they can throw some interesting concoctions if you ask!). Also check out their menu, it’s informative and has an interesting graph comparing all their drinks. SATURDAY BRUNCH is a must! Tasty Kitchen taco truck in the front has oh so delicious tacos (woohoo bfast tacos!)..great pairing with Modernists very FRESH juice mimosas. Will be back for a fun, classy day/night drinks with my girlfriends!

I’ve always been a huge fan of high-end cocktail bars, but during COVID I’ve been forced to learn how to bartend for myself. On a recent visit to Fresno, Modernist reminded why I’m so excited to get back to visiting craft cocktail spots - their original cocktails are SO inventive and far beyond anything I would dream up for myself. I went with a group of girlfriends and tried virtually everything on the seasonal menu - every ingredient was thoughtfully sourced and creatively combined. Definitely NYC quality! Beyond the drinks, the space is gorgeous (both indoor and out), and I actually loved being able to bring in food from the nearby trucks. Means the staff gets to focus on their incredible cocktails and I get to pick out whatever dish I’d like, while supporting a second local business! I wish more places had a setup like that. Definitely stop by if you’re...
