I was torn about what star rating to give this place so I decided to review it without the location in mind.||Despite the location, which I will address at the end of my review, this is a nice hotel. When you walk into the lobby is updated. There’s a beautiful waterfall and nice modern bar. The front desk staff is extremely friendly and very kind. Parking is free and immediately outside the front door of the hotel making it very convenient and easy to bring in your bags.||The only rooms that were left available was a Murphy bed type room. I thought it was going to be small but was surprised it was actually a decent size compared to what I expected. There are two sinks so one person is able to shower while the other person gets ready outside of the bathroom. This is always a nice touch.||However, I just woke up and my back is screaming. Because it is a Murphy bed. It is a very thin mattress and it felt like I slept on my old boyfriend’s futon from college. I am in my 40s but this morning I feel like I am 72.||When I woke up this morning at 5:30 and went to the gym there was already one gentleman in there running. I’m not sure how he was doing it because it was 81° on the thermostat. The temperature is not convenient for anything other than hot yoga. (Gym is very small, but the equipment was new and clean.) again, because of the location, I was not comfortable going outside, so I ended up making a track of all of the eighth floors and got a good 3 miles in by simply walking around every floor of the hotel several times. (It was actually quite pleasant as they are open hallways that opened down to the waterfall below.) ||The pool and the spa area are surprisingly very nice for a Doubletree. It is partly covered and was extremely clean. I did not have time to use it, but would not hesitate. Very nice. It would be perfect for families with young children looking to have a reprieve from a drive.||Here is the not so great part. We are traveling with our daughter to drop her off at UC Davis and thought this would be a good place to stop for the night. We have a trailer attached to a very nice vehicle. When we exited the highway, we drove around for a bit to see if we could find a place to dine. This is not a nice area. Nothing felt safe enough to park a vehicle with a trailer attached to it. When we finally arrived to the hotel, I commented that I did not feel safe leaving it in the parking lot. My fears were quickly dissolved when I saw a security patrol pull up and do a lap. Fine.|And, security was on top of it. All night the parking lot was lit up brightly. The security patrol car was in the corner with their orange lights on as a deterrent. And, when I walked up to my car at 5:30 this morning to retrieve something, he did pull out of his parking spot and drive by to check me out. Kudos to them for their security!||Mobile check-in was so convenient. I just retrieved our key on my phone and never had to stop by the front desk. However, when I went to the front desk to ask about the best restaurant to walk (because we have a trailer) I was told this is not the type of place that you want to walk around at night. He suggested we Uber to the northside which is about a 20 minute Uber. Fortunately, this area was much nicer. Many many many chain restaurants, and a very large mall with tons of options. Had I known that, we would have stayed in that area and not here.||So, overall, it is a very nice hotel and wonderfully managed Definitely the nicest in downtown Fresno. But, I would not stay again due to...
Read moreConcern for Bed Bugs Double Tree Hilton Convention Center Fresno, CA 2233 Ventura St. Stay October 3- October 5 Room 834 Recently stayed at the property for work assignment for two nights checked in October 3rd and checked out October 5th. I had previously stayed at this location for work assignments without reportable issue or incident. During this stay, I brought my 84 year old grandfather with me as an opportunity for him to have a trip away from home. We resided in room 834 in a double occupancy room, grandfather slept in the bed near the window and my bed near the door. During my work assignment grandfather remained within the hotel premises. Our drive to and from the property was 3 hours each way. Per my grandfather, he began to itch on his shoulders and sides of his torso, upper and lower sides of his back after check out and on the way home. As the day went on until overnight he stated the itching worsened and it was the following day my grandfather brought to my attention the multiple lesions with appearance of insect bites along the right and left sides of his torso and lower back shoulders with a few isolated lesions similar in appearance on his abdomen and back. I notified Hilton Hotels immediately on October 6th, filing a complaint and expressed my concern for bed bugs and/or some sort of insect within the contours of our hotel room. I also notified the hotel directly but management was not available. I asked the staff member if the hotel had been notified and if the room was closed off to avoid possible exposure to other patrons. The staff member was unaware of the complaint and concern filed earlier in the day and instructed me to call the following morning to speak to the manager. I did not develop any lesions on my body. The following morning on October 7th I called the hotel and spoke to a representative identifying himself as the property manager. During the phone conversation that morning, he informed me that an inspection of the room had been completed with no findings of bed bugs or other insects. I requested a full report and was informed by the manager that I would not have access to a report in 24-48 hours. Only one page of the report was provided with an inconsistent inspection time that was reported by the manager at the time of our phone conversation. Through several emails back and forth I was offered a service recovery of first 10,000 points then 30,000 points which was not equivalent to the two night stay at the property nor the inconvenience this has caused my grandfather and myself. My grandfather was seen by his physician who confirmed bed bug bites and was treated accordingly. My grandfather has since not developed any further insect bites since departure from this property. I am concerned that I received premature information prior to a non-thorough completed inspection that can render others susceptible to what occurred to my grandfather as well as a lack of compensation for the entire stay and for the inconvenience caused by staying at...
Read moreI only made a reservation here because of the heated pool and when I called during the week they assured me it was warm. They had also mentioned to me when I purchase the breakfast that kids 5 and under eat free. Then when we go to eat breakfast they’re like oh we don’t know what to do with kids 5 and under because they don’t do the buffet but covid is not brand new they should have had some plan for little kids forever ago and gave me one piece of French toast for two little kids. The plan for our trip was go to the zoo in the morning and swim a little once we check in. When i checked in I mentioned the pool and that’s when it would have been a good idea to turn it on. It wasn’t until we were out there. Kids all dressed in their swimsuits we realize it’s cold and a man told my husband it was off. They told it it would take an hour. We go and check and check and the temp isn’t changing. I could have booked a stay anywhere else and saved $100 bucks and used that money to take the kids somewhere. And right before coming we spent an additional $100 on swim stuff. So you could imagine how annoyed we were. I paid additional fee to buy breakfast here because with valentines weekend and covid I didn’t want to wait to be seated anywhere. And the service was very unpleasant it’s like here’s your food and get out type of vibe. Whatever we made the best with whatever was available here but honestly I would never stay here again. I just would have appreciated some honesty in the beginning like hey they pool doesn’t really get warm I could have planned something else instead of waiting for it to get hot. Dragging my kids up and down an elevator to check and they’re itching to get in but no they can’t. I did complain to the manager about the pool and I actually have a recording because I wanted to make sure she handled it appropriately. She could not Comp anything because we booked through...
