UPDATE Aug 2023: (We have been here several times since other reviews.) Not a good sign. I had to drop them down one star to four. A few things are getting us off. Very limited salad options now, just Caesar no longer offer spring salad with fresh fruits. So we didn't buy a salad. They ran out of unsweeted iced tea for lunch hour. I had to get staff's attention to shortage. They were not able to make more iced tea available before we left. Last point they need to cook the pizza a bit longer. Crust was too soft and melted cheese made it too soggy. A good point they now use larger paper cups for drinks so fewer trips for refills. UPDATE AUG 2021 Now serving Yuengling beer from PA. New to TX. UPDATE May 2021. Back to 5 stars as they have the better salad available now and iced tea. Better yet no masks required of customers. UDATE Nov 2020 Still holding at 4 star review for no iced tea and mediocre salad. UDATE Nov 2020 Still holding at 4 star review for no iced tea and mediocre salad. UPDATE Sep 2020 Back for a free pizza due to their loyalty club membership. Try it. Holding at 4 stars even though pizza was still great. Due to virus precautions no iced tea available, you have to ask for napkins, no straws. Salad was only lettuce nothing else. UPDATE Jun 2020. OooRah! Yes, we can dine in again. They have closed off at least 1/2 of tables although outside patio completely open. One can't stand in line like before so you go directly to cash register to order/pay or stand 6 ft back from customer in front of you. They have done a lot of virus control measures; see photo of sign on door. No ice tea available and they serve you the drinks; no self-service on beverages. You can get refills for free. My suggestion is after the first drink just ask for refill without ice in 2d glass. We had a lot of ice left over from 1st drink. Only Caesar salad available. Our pizza today was not cooked enough and too soggy. Dropped to 4 stars. The crew needs more practice. We will be back maybe after experience gets back to what is was before. Great first impression (Aug 2015) especially with a coupon (buy one get one free). And they really do get the pizza cooked and out to you really fast. I posted several photos of our visit today. Staff kept the customers moving through the line so the pizza gets in the oven sooner than later. We each got our own pizza on this visit along with one salad to share. The pizzas are large so come hungry or think leftovers. Next time we will get one pizza and choose lots and lots of toppings, one salad and drinks. Good bargain. Worth another visit with/without coupon. Only downside was the loud noise (concrete floors/metal ceiling) so it was hard to hear the staff ask what you wanted on your pizza. UPDATE: Apr 2016 Bumped the rating to 5 stars. We have eaten at several other pizza places in Collin county and this is our favorite. Always fast service even during very busy weekday lunch hours. See photos. And to mix the salad dressing throughout the plastic box, just pour it in, close lid, shake and eat. Yummy. UPDATE: Sep 2015 Return visit with another coupon; buy one get one free. With a salad and sharing one pizza we got leftovers again. Enjoyed the meal more this time as getting better selected the toppings. I won't be getting the spicy red sauce next time. Bumped the rating to four stars since it was still...
Read moreI like to make homemade and eat all kinds of pizza because I'm mostly of sicilan hetitage, and I grew up eating homemade sicilan pizzas my grandma made with homemade sicilan meatball pieces. Anyway, I got the build your own half pizza (11in) and side salad. The pizza was quite good, the salad was good, but the balsamic dressing was disgusting sadly.
Balsamic dressing isn't supposed to be thick, strangely overly tangy, or overly sweet. Obviously, balsamic is a little sour from the nature of vinegar, and if it's aged can be mildly tangy, however, it should not taste similar and more tangy and sweet, than sweet and sour chicken from a chinese restaurant.
Back to the pizza, I got many common italian toppings for the pizza, such as, regular sauce, a medley of cheeses, mozzarella, parmesan, ricotta, black olives, green olives, meatball, pepperoni, ham, italian seasoning, salt, pepper, basil, spinach, artichoke, etc... Sadly the ricotta was not good, it was kept well, but the quality was not good. Ricotta is not supposed to be so bland it detracts from the flavor of the pizza, mellowing the entire taste of each bite. It makes each bite a bit disappointing when you know what the pizza should and could taste like with better quality ricotta or without the ricotta at all. Regardless, everything else was quite good!
The crust was not quite thin, not too thick, and cooked nicely so you get a slight crunch on the outside, and slight softness on the inside. That's how any well cooked crust should be regardless of how thin or thick it is. This is also one of the benefits of wood fire oven that they use.
In any case, I would recommend it, especially for lunch! Given I'm a fairly big guy, I would recommend a full 11in pizza per person minimum if you like protein and go for...
Read moreFirst time ever coming to Blaze based on the reviews. I placed an order online and it said my pizza would be ready for pick up within 11 minutes. I got there at 6:56 (time it was promised by) I was told that they had 5 online orders come in all at once and that they were working on it. Time was going by where I saw customers enter, ordered, and receive their order and off they went to go eat. By 7:15 I was still waiting on my order. I asked if my order was in the process of being made the lady said yes it’s in the oven she then asked if I had one or two pizzas in my order. I only had one pizza ordered. She then proceeded to tell me “OH.. here’s your pizza I thought you had two..” my pizza had sat on the counter for some time while I waited and asked for my pizza twice before. She said she was sorry but didn’t offer anything for my inconvenience. Not the best first experience. I get that restaurants get busy but it’s not really acceptable to make someone wait that long when they placed it online ahead of all the customers that had ordered anything after I even arrived and the rest of the customers got their order while I had to wait for mine for almost half an hour. I was better off coming in and get in line to order. Pizza was good too bad service can most definitely be worked on. Having someone scream your name in a busy restaurant with music blasting isn’t the best method for letting customers know their order is ready to...
