I was here for 3 hours so I have a lot to say... brace yourself!
I've been on the search for a good place to study that also served Vietnamese coffee (for my boyfriend). We stopped by around 11am on a Saturday and it wasn't terribly packed. There was an adequate number of outlets with a variety of seating-- booths, tables, high top tables.
The first thing you notice is the aesthetics. If I had to describe the vibe, it'd be industrial chic?
I'm more of a tea drinker, so I got a London Fog. They didn't have this on the menu, but they had Earl grey tea and milk so voila! I was charged $2.95 which is the price of the hot tea.
Kendall, our cashier, was very sweet. I try to avoid single-use plastics, so I asked if she could put my drink in a mug instead of a disposable cup, and she happily obliged. I asked for water later and again, she was able to give me a mug instead. She even dropped by my table to refill my water!
Unfortunately, the London Fog had too much milk so it overpowered the taste of the tea even though I let it steep for awhile. This is understandable since I ordered something off-menu. I'll try the hot chocolate next time! My boyfriend, who's Viet, loves the strong taste of Vietnamese coffee, but he said this one was not as strong as he liked :(
I wanted to try the Cinnamon Sugar Cronut when I arrived, but they were sold out and were making more. I asked about it twice while I was there and finally got to try one when it was done. It was soft, airy, and fluffy, but strangely moist in the middle. I would have liked more cinnamon sugar on it.
I hadn't mentioned anything, but Kendall came to apologize to me because she just tried the cronut and admitted that the quality was not up to par with their usual standards. She offered to make it up to me the next time I come back with one that they're proud of. I really appreciate the initiative she took to address something like this and for accommodating my requests.
There are 2 gender neutral bathrooms; both were clean. But only the one located on the left has a full-body mirror. You're welcome, ladies :)
I am giving 4 stars despite the exemplary service because I have yet to find a fav menu item but love that they are working on being more consistent. I look forward to coming back to try some savory food items (The Grinder or Hangry Vegan banh mi) and...
Read more3rd update- I have increased my review to 4 stars, they serve many options now and have opened on Mondays. They were also very allergen friendly to my sister (gluten) and myself (dairy) with their drinks and food as much as what's on the menu.
Update This is really unfortunate, because again I like their coffee, but they no longer allow to modify their food menu and I must reduce this review to 2 stars. I can no longer eat their breakfast sandwich because they will no longer allow modification to replace their bun made with Milk, to a sourdough bread without milk even though they have other items using the sourdough. Now all of their menu options have dairy and they won't make exceptions. Too bad.
Orig 3 star review I absolutely love their coffee and crossiants and their breakfast sandwich. Why the 3 stars? They only stay open until 3, and then they switch menu at 11am and don't serve breakfast anymore. Then they are closed on Mondays. Lots of restrictions that are unnecessary. If you continue to only stay open till 3 why switch menus? Lots of people have different schedules and different food allergies that only support your breakfast menu. This location with the expansion of the star and everything that is here could support them to stay open till 6 or 7pm and open up on Monday! I'll continue to come and support them because the coffee is good and if I can get here before 11am continue to eat their very good...
Read moreI just want to say that I rarely post reviews, but this coffee shop was such a joy to visit, I had to say something about it. First of all, I want to thank you so much for offering a Vietnamese iced coffee that you make from scratch, one cup at a time. I love Vietnamese coffees but I don't like them too sweet. The majority of coffee shops that offer them tend to pre-make it, so if you want to change up the sweetness levels, they either can't do it, or they mix it with regular iced coffee and then you lose out on the strength/boldness of the coffee. Well I finally found a place that makes it to order and I was able to get it half sweet and it was DELICIOUS! Not even a hint of bitterness in the coffee, but super strong and chocolatey finish, it was perfect. Then, the croissant. They are just as good as everyone says, however, on top of them being good, they also are not super sweet. I got an almond one and it was delicious and mildly sweet, so I was able to eat the whole thing without feeling gross after. Awesome experience, you guys are doing it right. The only downside is your store hours. I unfortunately cannot come as often as I would like to due to the limited store hours, but whenever I am able to make it, I...
